August 19, 1935
Prissley slugger Bob Hove was on point coming out of the All-Star break. The Trail Blazers 1B went 11-for-27 for a .407 average with 6 homers and 17 RBI in Week 11 to earn Player of the Week honors for the second time this season.
The Prissley Trail Blazers are in a battle with the Delle Stars and Lia Puedris Kings in the UA’s A Division.

As we entered the week…
The Redwood Owls continued to sit atop baseball as the UA’s number one team with a 42-19 record coming into Week 11. They led the C Division by 12 games over the Salvation Brothers as the week began.
With just 5 games remaining in the NPL’s Regular Season, the Petchon Carp held a 4-game lead over the Carver Canaries as Week 11 began. The Elderwood Lakers were right behind the Canaries, 5 games behind the Carp. The top two NPL teams will play in the National Series, with Game 1 happening August 20. The winner of the best-of-5 series will be promoted to the UA for the 1936 season.

Monday, 8/12/1935
- Herders 1B Pedro Kopano hit a grand slam on a 3-for-4 day as Cherricaw beat the Spiders in Wight, 11-5.
- Roland lefty Greg Crepin pitched 8 scoreless innings with just 2 hits, 1 walk, and 9 Ks. The Stags blanked the Guardians, 3-0. Northsouth reliever Husa Goa left the game with extreme shoulder inflammation and will miss the rest of the season.
- Rivals lefty Howard Ferguson delivered a 7.1-inning scoreless pitching performance with 4 hits, 2 walks, and 9 Ks. The Rivals won in Platte, 1-0.
- White Sox starter Mathew Huertata pitched 8 scoreless, 2-hit innings with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Deerborn won in Redwood, 4-0. With the win, Huertata tied former teammate Jorge Takato for the most pitching wins in UA history.
Tuesday, 8/13/1935
- The first-place Owls have added veteran right-handed reliever Jeff Collier as they make a push for the playoffs. They added Collier in a trade with Roland, who received young prospect OF Tony Ortitakaz.
- Miners 3B David Holmes broke a finger while sliding in today’s game in Prissley. His return this season is questionable. F: PRI 9, LK 3.
- Wight LHP Kevin Leroux pitched 5 1-run innings, but had to leave early with ongoing blister pain on his throwing hand. He is not on the IL, but his future availability is uncertain. The Spiders beat the Herders, 5-3.
- Platte starter Ron Rivera had to come out after the 2nd inning of tonight’s game. He is headed to the 10-day IL with shoulder inflammation. The Bears went on to beat the Rivals at home, 1-0.
- Owls starter David Merlet went 7.2 innings with 1 run allowed on 6 hits and 1 walk. He struck out 10. Redwood beat Deerborn, 3-1.
Wednesday, 8/14/1935
- Stars 3B Miguel Naggenda hit 2 HRs for 3 RBI as Delle beat the Reapers in Plains City, 5-2.
- Prissley 3B Ugo Monnier tied the team record with 3 doubles and hit a HR for 4 total RBI. The Trail Blazers unloaded on the Miners, 13-1.
- Herders lefty starter Victor Silva pitch 6.2 scoreless inning with 4 hits allowed, zero walks, and 6 Ks. Cherricaw won in Wight, 7-1.
- Brothers RHP Tony Lia Taawa went the distance, giving up just 1 run on 1 hit, a solo HR by Metros 1B Chuck Parker in the first inning. Lia Taawa struck out 10 and walked zero as Salvation beat Tiny Sea, 2-1.
- Platte’s pitching staff took two more big hits with SP Ron Rivera already ailing. Starter Jose Verdier is now on the IL after leaving with a back strain. Starter Travis Voelker later pitched in relief and suffered a partially torn elbow ligament that will end his 1935 season. The Bears currently hold the final playoff spot with just over a month to go in the Regular Season. Platte lost to Railey, 7-4.
- Owls starter Craig Ogg allowed 1 run on 3 hits over 7 innings, striking out 8 and walking 1. Redwood went on the lose at home to Deerborn, 2-1.
Thursday, 8/15/1935
- Stags CF Carroll Martin hit 2 HRs for 6 RBI as Roland rolled over the White Sox, 14-5.
- Wight C Ferdinand Girard hit his 15th and 16th HRs of the season, but the Brothers beat the Spiders, 13-8. Salvation CF Dang Gurr tied the team record with 4 runs scored in the win.
- Chargers CF Jesus Vazquiza will be day-to-day over the next 1-2 weeks with a strained rib muscle. Taawa won at home over Northsouth, 8-3.
Friday, 8/16/1935
- Wight LHP Kevin Leroux struggled in 1 innings of relief, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits in the Spiders’ road loss at Salvation. He has been dealing with a finger blister. F: SAL 4, WIG 0.
- Trail Blazers RHP Lou Yarbrough allowed just 1 hit over 6.1 scoreless innings, walking 1 and striking out 7 as Prissley beat Cherricaw, 8-0. Prissley reliever Roberto Gatalvan left with a hamstring strain and will lately miss 3 weeks. Bob Hove hit his 4th homer in his last 5 games. He now leads the UA with 22 HR.
- Deerborn White Sox starter Mathew Huertata became the winningest pitcher in UA history with 69th career win. He allowed 2 hits over 6 scoreless innings, walking zero and striking out 5. F: DEE 5, ROL 2.
- Northsouth 1B Cal Oluoch hit his 200th career HR in the Guardians’ 13-7 loss at Taawa. He is now 6th on the all-time list.
Saturday, 8/17/1935
- Reapers starter Achille Roy pitched 8 shutout innings with 4 hits, 1 walk, and 6 Ks. Plains City topped Railey, 2-0.
- A tough injury day in Cherricaw: Herders ace Sonny Hernankez left in the first inning with an abdominal strain. He is unlikly to make his next start. Trail Blazers LHP Art Meyers left with elbow pain and is awaiting a diagnosis. Herders CF Burt Page left with a back strain after making a throw in the outfield. The Blazers won the game, 8-6. Prissley SS Alex Wangombe hit 3 doubles to tie the team record and walked once in the win.
- Kings 2B Bob White hit 2 solo bombs, but the Stars won in Delle, 7-6. Lia Puedris RH RP Rafael Itaawa left with back pain and is awaiting a diagnosis.
- Wight C Ferdinand Girard had a 2-HR game on Thursday, and he did it again tonight at Salvation. He went 3-for-5 with 2 homers for 3 RBI tonight, but the Spiders would go on to lose to the Brothers, 8-7, in 12 innings.
Sunday, 8/18/1935
- The White Sox added a piece to their bullpen with 35-year old RH RP Bruno McKenna, who Deerborn acquired in a trade with the Metros. McKenna has a 3.38 ERA in 29 appearances with Tiny Sea this season.
- Bob Hove extended his league HR lead with 2 more blasts for 5 RBI today in Prissley’s 8-2 home win against the Brothers. The Trail Blazers are the hottest team in baseball, having won 8 straight games. They now trail the Stars by 2 games for the A Division lead.
- Chargers ace Ali Guyon left after 5 scoreless innings with back spasms. He expects to make his next start. Deerborn beat Taawa, 4-1. The win puts the White Sox 2 games ahead of the Chargers in D Division.
- Redwood starter David Merlet Owls put up 8 scoreless innings with 5 hits and zero walks. He struck out 9 as the Owls beat the Herders, 3-0. SS Fouad Lefevre went 3-for-3 with 2 RBI and a solo homer, his 22nd of the year.
- The Platte Bears lost their 5th straight game, 6-3 in Plains City. They are now 3 games out of a wild card spot.
- Rivals rookie CF Albert Luna went 3-for-3 with a triple as Railey won in Lia Puedris, 7-5.

- Lakers starter Roberto Tokorres notched 10 Ks, allowing 1 run on 1 hit over 6.1 IP. Elderwood beat Green Rock, 2-1.
Tuesday, 8/13/1935
- The Petchon Carp officially clinched a spot in the National Series with a 6-3 win at home against the Flames.
Wednesday, 8/14/1935
- Canaries RH SP John Munson took his start into the 9th, going 8.1 innings with 1 hit allowed, walking 3 and striking out 7. Carver squeaked past Riverside, 1-0.
Thursday, 8/15/1935
- Ropers 1B Francisco Katakowa went deep 3 times for 8 RBI in Gallstone’s 12-4 win at Green Rock.
- Farport 3B Jeff Brown went 4-for-5 with 2 doubles and a HR for 3 total RBI, but the Blue Sox beat the Flames, 7-6.
Friday, 8/16/1935
- Blue Sox starter Orlando Lia Puedris went 8.1 innings with just 2 hits allowed, 2 walks and 10 Ks. Lia Puedris beat Farport, 3-0.
- Carp LF Allen Hendrix ended his bid for MVP with 2 HRs for 4 RBI in Petchon’s 8-4 win at Gandolire. Hendrix finished at the top of the NPL in HRs (23) and RBI (56), but finished .006 behind Leland Mason of the Toppers for batting title, narrowly missing the first-ever offensive triple crown in either UUBO league. Hendrix’s Carp will have home field advantage next week in the National Series.
- Lakers starter Paul Faucher allowed 3 hits over 7.2 scoreless innings, walking 2 and striking out 9. Elderwood beat Trimble, 1-0. With Carver’s loss to Riverside, the Lakers have forced a 1-game playoff with the Canaries. They will play tomorrow at the Elderwood Park Center for a trip to the National Series against Petchon.
Saturday, 8/17/1935
The Elderwood Lakers are headed back to the National Series! Lakers C Aurelio Romanota went 3-for-4 with a 3-run home run as Elderwood cruised to a 9-3 victory in their single game playoff against Carver. On Tuesday, the Lakers will travel to Petchon to play the Carp for the National Cup and promotion to the UA for 1936. The Lakers lost last season to the Kings in the National Series.
