CRATERVIEW PARK, PLATTE, SIMMONS — Juan Valenzuelaka is having a career season with the Taawa Chargers, who are eyeing their first-ever playoff appearance. The 25-year old catcher made the All-Star roster for the first time, and took home All-Star MVP honors going 2-for-2 with a 9th inning home run that helped Team 2 rally to send the game to extra innings.
Team 1 ultimately won the contest on a walk-off homer by veteran Guardians 1B Cal Oluoch in the bottom of the 10th inning. As the game went to extra innings, the commissioner’s office reportedly weighed calling the game a draw to prevent pitcher injury. The situation has become an almost yearly occurrence, with similar backroom conversation taking place during tied All-Star Games in 1931, 1933, and 1934. To date, no All-Star game has been cut short.
Crystalline Casting viewing outperformed last year’s game, but numbers were still down from previous seasons. Fans and press have expressed frustration with the move away from an East-versus-West format since lat season’s UUBO realignment. Future plans for the All-Star Game have not been announced for next season and beyond, but we did receive communication from the UA commissioner’s office to the effect that the game’s future will be addressed early in the upcoming off-season.

The Redwood Owls were the first team to 40 wins, sitting atop the UA and 11 games ahead of Salvation in C Division with a 40-18 record. They were the top in the league in terms of runs scored, runs against, home runs, and both starter and bullpen ERA.
With just 12 games remaining in the Regular Season as Week 10 began, the Petchon Carp retained a 3-game lead over the Carver Canaries, with the Elderwood Lakers just 1 game back of the Canaries in third. The top two NPL teams will play in the National Series starting August 18, with the winner earning promotion to the UA for 1936.

Monday, 8/5/1935
- Rivals 23-year old RHP Lynn Johnson threw a 2-hit shutout, with just 1 walk and 6 strikeouts over 9 IP. Railey beat Tiny Sea, 4-0.
- White Sox LF Juan Tumaini hit a double and 2 HRs for 4 RBI, and walked once in Deerborn’s 9-8 win at home against Prissley. LF Bob Hove hit his 18th HR of the season and had 5 total RBI for the losing Trail Blazers.
- Roland closer Roberto Potabako left the game in extreme pain with what turned out to be a torn UCL. His season is over and he is questionable for 1936. The Kings won a wild game against the Stags in 10 innings, 9-7.
- Chargers starter Mark Lia Yorino struck out 12 Reapers batters over 7.2 IP, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits. His 12 Ks tied the Taawa team record. Final: TAA 7, PC 2.
- Wight C Ferdinand Girard hit a 3-run HR and a double for 4 total RBI as the Spiders beat the Miners on the road, 6-4.
Tuesday, 8/6/1935
- Northsouth starter Henry Brown notched 10 Ks over 5.1 scoreless innings with just 2 hits and zero walks allowed, but the Guardians lost at home to the Owls, 3-1.
- Herders 1B Pedro Kopano went off at the plate for 3 HRs and 8 RBI in Cherricaw’s 10-0 thumping of the Brothers. Herders RHP Abdoulaye Rolland struck out 10 batters over 7 scoreless innings and earned the win.
- Deerborn starter Javier Rosaritoko pitched 7.1 innings with just 3 hits, zero walks, and zero runs allowed, striking out 9. The White Sox beat the Trail Blazers at Kostinsky Park, 3-0.
Thursday, 8/8/1935
- Stars pitcher Francisco Lia Taawa will miss more time than anticipated with a forearm strain. He overextended himself during a workout Thursday and felt increased pain, but Delle medical staff have kept his status at day-to-day. His return is uncertain.
Friday, 8/9/1935
- Team 1 beat Team 2 in 10 innings in the 8th UA All-Star Game at Craterview Park in Platte. Chargers C Juan Valenzuelaka of Team 2 was named All-Star Game MVP, going 2-for-2 with a 2-run HR.
Monday, 8/12/1935
- Chargers 1B Jose Lia Tinta has been named UA Player of the Week for Week 10. He went 6-for-12 during the short week with 2 HRs and 5 RBI over three games.

- Toppers 2B Leland Mason hit 2 solo homers and scored three times in Trimble’s 6-1 win in Green Rock. RHP Dwayne Burns pitched 8 scoreless innings for Trimble with 6 hits, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts.

- With just 5 games to go in the Regular Season, Allen Hendrix of the first-place Petchon Carp leads the league in batting average, home runs, and runs batted in. He could become the first player in either UUBO league to win an offensive triple crown!
