41-year old Guardians 1B Cal Oluoch is UA Player of the Week for Week 7. This week he went 12-for-25 (.480) with 4 HR and 9 RBI.
He has a .325 average and 14 HR this year, making it one of his best seasons so far as we approach the midpoint. Oluoch is a 2-time All-Star and has been with the Guardians his entire career, since the UA’s inception in 1928.

As we entered the week…
The Redwood Owls had their 17-game win streak snapped on Sunday, but they still owned the best record in the UA at 28-11, leading C Division by 8 games as we began Week 7.
The NPL pennant race is heating up as we head into the final month of the 70-game season. The Petchon Carp are currently in first place, 3 games ahead of the Carver Canaries. The top two teams in the NPL will play in August for the National Cup and promotion to the UA in 1936.

Monday, 7/15/1935
- Metros 1B Juan Korrea received a 3-game suspension today after a heated argument with the home plate umpire. Korrea is hitting .235 for the Metros, who are fighting to stay above relegation this year after a Windsor Cup Finals appearance last year in their first UA season. The Metros won the game against the Guardians in 13 innings, 1-0.
- Brothers 1BKurt Lund launched a pair of solo homers, but the Rivals won at home, 3-2.
- Stags starter Greg Crepin shut the Owls roster down with 7 Ks and 3 hits allowed over 6 scoreless innings, as Roland beat Redwood, 2-1.
- Platte 3B Gavin Jones suffered a shoulder separation in a nasty collision along the base paths today. He could miss up to 3 weeks. Herders RF Willie Eatmon strained an oblique on a defensive play and will be day-to-day for the next week or so. The Bears won in Cherricaw, 8-4.
- Miners CF Ogg Do went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI, including a 3-run blast to walk it off in the bottom of the 10th. Lia Kompos beat Plains City, 8-5.
- Spiders 1B Andy Bernard went 4-for-4 with a walk and 3 RBI, scoring 3 runs himself as Wight trounced the Stars on the road, 15-3.
- Trail Blazers RH SP Jim Loughran was brilliant with just 3 hits allowed over 7.1 scoreless innings. He struck out 6 and walked 3 as the Blazers blanked the Chargers, 5-0.
Tuesday, 7/16/1935
- Roland 3B Gurr Gurr had 2 doubles on a 4-for-5 day with 4 RBI. The Stags beat the Metros in Tiny Sea, 8-6.
- Delle RF Francisco Lia Taawa hit 2 solo shots as the Stars bounced back from a tough loss yesterday with a big win over the Blazers at home, 13-1.
- Guardians RH SP Ron Englert allowed zero runs on just 4 hits over 7.2 innings and struck out 8, improving his record to 4-0, as Northsouth topped Deerborn, 2-0. White Sox starter Mathew Huertata left early with a hamstring strain, but is expected to make his next start.
Wednesday, 7/17/1935
- Herders RF Willie Eatmon is still batting over .400, but was forced to leave today’s game with a sore hamstring in addition to a mild oblique strain that he’s been dealing with since Monday. He will be day-to-day for the next few days. The Herders won in Plains City, 5-4.
- After a difficult start to his outing, Prissley starter Roberto Teakowa hit Pedro Bausi with a pitch in the 1st inning. Bausi took exception, charging the mound and igniting a bench-clearing brawl. Bausi has been suspended for 4 games and Teakowa has been suspended for 8 games. Both players declined to comment on the incident. The Trail Blazers took the win at home, 6-4.
- The Owls got back to the win column against the Chargers after losing 3 straight following their huge 17-game winning streak. Starting pitcher Filepe katakien was locked in for Redwood, notching 11 Ks over 7 innings with 1 run on just 2 hits. Final: RW 3, TAA 2.
- Kings starter Ben Anderson struck out 10 Miners, allowing 1 run on 3 hits over 5 IP. Lia Puedris won at home, 5-1.
Thursday, 7/18/1935
- Bears SP Jose Verdier was great, striking out 10 and allowing 5 hits over 8 scoreless innings, as the Bears beat the Brothers at home, 3-0.
- Lia Puedris CF Jared Ellis had a HR and a double on a 4-for-5, 4-RBI day. LF John Bunce scored 4 runs to tie the team record, going 3-for-4 with a double, a HR, and 2 RBI. The Kings beat the Miners, 18-9.
- Guardians pitcher Doug Manns fanned 12 batters over 6.2 IP to tie the Northsouth team record, but gave up 1 tun on 4 hits and took the loss. Final: DEE 1, NOR 0.
Friday, 7/19/1935
- Rivals RH SP Fred Lia Itoldino struck out 9 batters over 8 scoreless innings with 6 hits and 2 walks allowed. Railey beat up on Prissley, 10-0.
- Brothers CF Dang Gurr had a huge 3-for-5, 6-RBI day with 2 HR, including a grand slam in the 6th inning. Salvation beat Plains City at home, 10-3.
- Metros 1B Ambroise Forestier hit his 11th and 12th HRs as Tiny Sea edged the White Sox on the road, 4-3.
- Chargers starter Ali Guyon allowed just 2 hits over 7 scoreless innings, walking 1 and striking out 9. He leads the league with a 1.46 ERA. Taawa blanked Roland at home, 3-0.
- Owls SP Craig Ogg left with shoulder pain, but says he will be fine for his next start. The Stars beat the Owls in Delle, 4-3.
- Guardians 1B Cal Oluoch went deep twice with 4 RBI on a 3-for-5 day. Northsouth won in Lia Kompos, 11-7.
Saturday, 7/20/1935
- Cal Oluoch had another great day for Northsouth with a double and a HR on a 4-for-5, 2-RBI day. The Guardians beat the Miners, 8-5.
- Owls starter David Merlet went 8 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits, striking out 7 and walking 4. Redwood beat Delle, 4-1. 4-time defending league MVP Mario Olivo left with a sore forearm after a defensive play. He will not head to the IL, but could be affected for the next few days.
- Salvation starter Jeff Rogers notched 10 Ks over 6.2 scoreless innings as the Brothers beat the Reapers, 3-0. Reapers C Luis Rokodriguez left with a bruised ankle after being hit by a pitch in the 4th inning, but is not head to the IL.
Sunday, 7/21/1935
- 1929 UA MVP and 6-time All-Star Albert Pentana had a great day for Roland, going 3-for-4 with a triple and a HR for 2 total RBI. The Stags beat the Chargers on the road in 10 innings, 6-4.
- Deerborn veteran righty Mathew Huertata struck out 10 over 7 innings in a no-decision. The White Sox went on to beat the Metros at home, 4-3.
- Bears C Bill Hamilton launched 2 homers for 4 RBI. The Bears walked off in the 11th on an RBI single from Ernesto Sankez as Platte topped Wight, 9-8. Platte ends week & tied for first in D Division with the Taawa Chargers.
- Prissley 2-time All-Star RF Curt Sawyer left with knee pain, later diagnosed as tendinitis. He will be day-to-day over the next week. The Rivals beat the Blazers in Prissley, 10-4.
- Redwood CF Bruce Willard came out of the game with a strained thigh muscle. He will be day-to-day for a few days, but says he expects to be in the lineup. Steve Thomas came in off the bench and hit his 15th homer as Redwood beat Delle on the road, 7-4. Both teams end Week 7 at the top of their respective divisions.

- Farport 2B Claudio Hernankez hit 2 homers for 3 RBI as the Flames beat the Mystics, 6-1.
Wednesday, 7/17/1935
- Lakers pitcher Connor Johnston struck out 7 batters and allowed 7 hits over 7 scoreless innings in Elderwood’s 5-0 win at Petchon.
Thursday, 7/18/1935
- Ropers RH SP Arturo Kolon was brilliant, going 8 innings with just 2 hits and zero runs allowed. Gallstone beat Trimble, 3-1.
- Petchon lefty Yassine Gaudin earned 8 Ks and allowed just 3 hits over 7 scoreless innings. The Carp beat the Lakers, 7-3.
- Carver veteran 2-time All-Star 2B Carlos Katamori hit a pair of homers, but the Canaries lost at Farport, 6-4.
Friday, 7/19/1935
- Ropers SS Augusto Hernankez hit two HRs for 3 RBI and walked twice, but the Carp won in Gallstone, 10-6.
- Toppers 2B Leland Mason hit a double and 2 solo HRs in Trimble’s 8-4 win at Tillers.
Saturday, 7/20/1935
- Canaries 2-time All-Star C Yoni Bealieu went 3-for-3 with a double and 2 HR, knocking in 3 RBI as Carver blanked Gandolire, 6-0.
- Captains starter Jose Katamori went 8 scoreless innings with just 3 hits allowed and 8 Ks in Riverside’s 6-0 win over Farport. Teammate 2B Aldo Lefeuvre was 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 4 total RBI in the win.
Sunday, 7/21/1935
- Ropers 1B Francisco Katakowa went off for 6 RBI with a double and a HR in Gallstone’s big 12-4 win over Petchon.
- Trimble C Michael Watts went 4-for-5 with a homer and 5 RBI, scoring twice in the Toppers’ 8-4 win against the Greys.
- Elderwood starter Roberto Tokorres went 7 scoreless innings with just 3 hits allowed, walking zero and striking out 6, but the Lakers dropped the game to the Blue Sox, 3-2.
