July 15, 1935
No surprise here, as Owls SS Fouad Lefevre wins UA Player of the Week for the third time in the last four weeks. He hit .444 with 4 HR and 9 RBI this week.
He has now taken the league lead in all three triple crown categories, with a staggering .436 average, 16 HR, and 39 RBI on the season.
This is the fourth straight Redwood Owls PotW winner.

As we entered the week…
The Redwood Owls came into Week 6 on an absolute tear, the winners of 12 straight games. They led the UA as a team in batting average, runs scored, home runs, runs against, and starting pitcher ERA.

Monday, 7/8/1935
- Spiders 3B Ryad Renaud was a single away from the cycle, with a double, a triple, and a HR for 5 total RBI. Wight beat the Stags in Roland, 7-6.
- White Sox starter Esteban Muiru pitched 7 innings and allowed 1 run on 4 hits, with 2 walks and 8 strikeouts. Deerborn beat Platte, 5-3.
- Herders LF Burt Page went deep twice in Cherricaw’s 4-1 win at Delle. RH SP Sonny Hernankez thew 8 innings with 1 run allowed on 5 hits and 6 Ks.
- Brothers C Raul Bahaa went 3-for-5 with a HR and 4 total RBI, but the Chargers won at home, 8-7.
- Reapers starter Achille Roy went 7.2 innings, allowing just 1 run on 3 hits and striking out 6 in a no-decision. Plains City beat Northsouth in 10 innings, 5-3.
- 1B Victor Thabet led the way with 3 doubles for 5 RBI in the Owls’ 6-5, 11-inning home win over Prissley. The Owls have now won 13 straight.
Wednesday, 7/10/1935
- Redwood upped their win streak to 14 games with an incredible 16-inning win at Tiny Sea. The Owls tied it in the 9th with 4 runs, the their bullpen allowed just 2 hits in extra innings as they held on to win the 4-hour, 34-minute contest.
- Herders CF Burt Page hit his 3rd HR in two days, a grand slam to help Cherricaw beat Railey, 11-3.
- After Blazers starter Pepe Coblah left the game with a sprained ankle, RHP Tony Espinoza stepped up and delivered 8 Ks over 6.2 hitless innings. Prissley beat Roland, 4-3. Pepe Coblah could miss up to 2 months with his ankle sprain.
- Platte CF Myles Williams hit 2 HR with 3 RBI on a 3-for-5 day as the Bears beat the Miners, 10-3. Bears 2B Ralph Maxwell suffered a back strain that could limit his action over the next week, but he has not been placed on the IL.
Thursday, 7/11/1935
- Kings 3B Jordan Linker had a 3-for-5 day with a 3-run HR and 5 total RBI as Lia Puedris bea tup on Northsouth, 12-2. Guardians starter left with a painful oblique strain after a rough start to the game. His return is uncertain.
- Owls SS Fouad Lefevre hit his league-leading 15th and 16th HRs of the year for 4 RBI. He has hit 4 HR in the last 3 games, and 7 in the last 6. Redwood won their 15th straight game, 9-5 at Tiny Sea.
- Chargers SS John Proper hit two solo bombs as Taawa blanked the Spiders in Wight, 8-0. Chargers starter Doyle Lane left early with a sore wrist. X-rays were negative, but Lane is uncertain for his next start.
- Rivals 1B Andy Thompson left with a thigh bruise. He will be day-to-day and is expected to be in the lineup tomorrow. The Rivals walked off on a 2-run single from 3B Fure Len, winning over Cherricaw, 3-2.
Friday, 7/12/1935
- White Sox 3B Lura Opdahl hit 2 homers for 4 RBI as Deerborn beat Plains City, 7-1. Deerborn veteran starter Mathew Huertata allowed 1 run and struck out 7 over 7 innings of work and earned the win.
- Redwood held off Tiny Sea, 5-4, sweeping the series and winning their 16th straight game.
- Rivals LH SP Howard Ferguson notched 10 Ks over 7 innings and took the win, as Railey beat Cherricaw, 4-2. Rivals 3B Hichem Colle suffered a broken hand during a slide and could miss up to 6 weeks.
- Bears righty Travis Voelker struck out 10 over 7.2 IP, allowing 1 run on 4 hits and 1 walk. Platte beat Lia Kompos, 7-1.
- Brothers starter Tom Lia Morro allowed just 1 hit over 7 scoreless innings and struck out 11 batters, giving up just 1 walk. 3B Colin Sell hit 3 doubles for 3 RBI as Salvation beat Delle at home, 12-3.
Saturday, 7/13/1935
- In addition to a bruised right thigh, Rivals 1B Andy Thompson has now been diagnosed with tendinitis in his left knee and is headed to the IL. He could miss up to a month. Railey beat Salvation today, 5-4.
- Nelson Sotio tied the Chargers team record with 12 Ks over 6.2 IP as Taawa beat Prissley at home, 7-4.
- Owls lefty Craig Ogg put on a master class with just 2 hits allowed over 8 scoreless innings as Redwood won their 17th straight game in a 1-0 pitcher’s duel in Roland.
- Guardians starter Doug Manns went the distance, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits with 1 walk and 4 Ks as Northsouth beat Tiny Sea, 7-2.
- Stars SS Mario Olivo went 3-for-4 with a 3-run HR as Delle walked off in 11 innings on an RBI single from CF King Jackson. Final (11): DEL 7, WIG 6.
- Herders CF Burt Page continued a great week with a grand slam and an RBI triple for 5 total RBI, but Platte won in Cherricaw, 6-5. Herders 5-time All-Star 3B Rygh Ogg left after being hit by a pitch on his right hand, which he bruised badly last season. A diagnosis is pending, but he says he will likely miss time. Platte reliever Mark Sapfoot, meanwhile, left with a painful finger blister that could limit his availability in the coming days.
Sunday, 7/14/1935
- Chargers SP Ali Guyon was an out away from a complete game. He threw 109 pitches, allowing 1 run on 5 hits with 9 Ks and a walk. Taawa stomped Prissley, 11-1. Guyon leads the UA with a 1.66 ERA.
- Guardians 41-yar old 1B Cal Oluoch pulled off a hat trick with 3 HRs for 5 RBI, including a 2-run shot to walk it off in the bottom of the 15th as Northsouth overcame Tiny Sea, 6-4, in a 4.5+ hour game.
- Deerborn starter Esteban Muiru had another good outing, holding the Kings scoreless over 7.1 innings and striking out 8. The White Sox won, 6-0.
- Brothers RH SP Tony Lia Taawa struck out 9 batters over 8.1 innings, holding the Rivals scoreless on 5 hits and a walk. Final: SAL 7, RAI 0.
- The Redwood Owls historic winning streak ended tonight at 17 games, as the Stags shut them out in Roland, 3-0. Roland righty Antonio Machupa put in 5 scoreless, 4-hit innings with 6 Ks and 2 walks to take the win. Owls SS Fouad Lefevre hit in his 10th straight game and continues to hit above .400, leading the UA in average, HRs, and RBI. The Owls own the league’s best record and lead C Division by 8 games over Salvation.

- Carp SP Domingo Lia Itoldino allowed 1 run on 2 hits over 8.1 IP. Petchon beat Gandolire, 3-1.
Friday, 7/12/1935
- Flames righty Jim Gilliam fanned 9 Blue Sox batters over 8 scoreless innings and allowed 4 hits. Farport beat Lia Puedris, 2-0.
- Tillers veteran 1B Vage Lek went 5-for-5 with a double and a HR for 2 total RBI, while starter Arturo Kagai pitched 7 scoreless, 1-hit innings. Final: TIL 7, KON 1.
Saturday, 7/13/1935
- Lakers C Aurelio Romanota went deep twice on a 3-for-4 day for 5 total RBI. Elderwood beat Gallstone, 7-3.
- Canaries 1B Felipe Songoro hit a grand slam and had 5 total RBI in Carver’s 9-4 home win over Tillers.
- Ducks 1B Jack Garrett went 2-for-4 with a HR and 5 total RBI as Gandolire beat Lia Puedris, 6-2.
