July 1, 1935
Redwood RF Paul Blount earned Player of the Week honors this week. Owls players have won back-to-back PoTW awards after SS Fouad Lefevre did so last week. Blount went 7 for 11 this week for a .636 average, a home run, and 6 RBI. He’s hitting .303 on the year, mostly coming off the bench for the first-place Owls.
We are through the first month of the 1935 Regular Season and Batter and Pitcher of the Month awards have been handed out for June.

The Taawa Chargers held the UA’s top record at 13-7 coming into Week 4. They led Division D by 1 game over the Plains City Reapers as the week began.

Monday, 6/24/1935
- Brothers C Raul Bahaa had a 3-for-4 day with a 2-run HR and 3 total RBI. Salvation won at Wight, 8-5.
- White Sox C Yousef Guillame crushed a 3-run HR to put Deerborn on top for a 15-inning road win in Roland. Final (15): DEE 5, ROL 2.
- Plains City 2B Winston Townsend had a big 4-for-4 day with a 3-run HR as the Reapers beat the Rivals, 6-1.
- Bears 3B Gavin Jones went 3-for-4 with a solo HR and a triple for 4 total RBI to life Platte over Tiny Sea, 6-5.
- Delle RF Francisco Lia Taawa hit two solo bombs in the Stars’ 6-2 win at the Kings.
Tuesday, 6/25/1935
- Metros 1B Ambroise Forestier went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI on 2 homers. Tiny Sea beat Platte on the road, 6-5.
- Bad news for the Trail Bazers, as 1B Luis Rokodriguez left today’s game with a strained ab muscle. He’ll be day-to-day for the next week or so, but is expected to rest for at least a day or two according to Prissley manager Hamid Ricard. The Blazers beat the Herders at home, 2-1.
- Rivals 3B Hichem Colle had a huge 5-for-5 performance knocking in 3 RBI, including a solo HR. Railey beat the Reapers in Plains City, 9-5.
- Owls RF Paul Blount was a single away from hitting for the cycle, 3-for-4 with 4 RBI in Redwood’s 12-2 romp over the Miners. Owls 3B Marc Zorn went 3-for-4 a HR and double for 2 RBI in the win.
Thursday, 6/27/1935
- Taawa C Juan Valenzuelaka hit a pair of homers for 4 RBI as the Chargers won at home over Deerborn, 6-4.
- Stars starter Luis Yarbrough tossed 6 innings with just 1 hit allowed, 3 Ks, and 3 walks, earning the win as Delle blanked Northsouth, 4-0.
Friday, 6/28/1935
- Craig Ogg tossed a gem for the Owls, going 8 innings with no runs allowed on 5 hits and 7 Ks. Redwood shut out Cherricaw, 3-0.
- The Kings won a thriller in Railey, tying it in the 9th and winning in the 12th on a 3-run shot from 2B Colin Holt. The Kings are doing relatively well in their first season since promotion to the UA, currently standing at 12-12.
- Platte closer Mark Sapfoot reported a finger blister after tonight’s 5-4 loss to Plains City. His status will be day-to-day.
- Brothers starter Tom Lia Morro was locked in, striking out 16 Prissley batters and earning the win in Salvation’s 4-2 home victory.
- White Sox veteran starter Esteban Muiru was brilliant, tossing 8 scoreless, 3-hit innings with 7 Ks, but the Chargers got the better of Deerborn, winning the pitchers’ duel 1-0 in 11 innings thanks to a walk-off HR by 2B Luke Lia Puedris.
Saturday, 6/29/1935
- Spiders RHP Will Murphy threw 8 innings allowing just 2 hits and 1 run, striking out 10. Wight beat Tiny Sea, 5-1.
- Rivals SP Alejandro Gomez fanned 9 batters, allowing 1 run on 2 hits in 6 IP and earning the win. Final: RAI 5, LPK 1.
- White Sox reliever Joao Thery left with back spasms after just 3 pitches. He is expected to be day-to-day for at least a week. White Sox starter Edward Murray also came out after just 4 pitches with abdominal pain, but is expected to be 100% for his next start. The Chargers stayed on top of the league with a wild comeback win, walking off on a solo bomb by SS Jonathan Stanley. Final TAA 8, DEE 7.
- Owls RHP David Merlet was great over 8 IP, holding Cherricaw scoreless on 3 hits with 4 walks and 4 Ks. Redwood won the game in extra innings, 1-0.
Sunday, 6/30/1935
- Plains City RHP Enrique Huertata threw 8 innings, allowing just 1 run on a solo HR, his only hit allowed. He walked 1 and struck out 5 as the Reapers took the win, 2-1.
- Platte 1B Tim Rogers drew 4 walks to tie the league record, as the Bears beat the Kings in 13 innings, 4-3.
- Owls RHP Mike Gurr went the distance, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits while walking 2 and striking out 6. LF Steve Thomas smacked his 12th homer to tie Prissley’s Bob Hove for the league lead. Final: RW 8, SAL 2.
- Stars LF slugger Antonio Teakowa brought home 5 RBI, including a 3-run homer in the 9th that put Delle over Deerborn, 7-5.
- Stags C Rafael Kastillo had a big 4-for-4 day, with a 3-RBI double and a triple for 4 total RBI as Roland beat Cherricaw at home, 8-7.
- Rivals 37-year old 1B Andy Thompson has had an injury-prone career and has once again found himself out with a back injury during Railey’s 1-0 win at Northsouth. A diagnosis is pending for Thompson.

- Tillers C Kyllian Bresson hit 2 homers for 3 RBI in the Greys’ 7-6 loss to Green Rock.

- Captains 1B Joe White hit 2 HRs for total RBI in Riverside’s 7-6 home win against Elderwood.
