The postseason is underway with the 1935 Wild Card Playoffs! The Lia Kompos Miners hosted the Taawa Chargers, and the Delle Stars hosted the Prissley Trail Blazers. The WildCard round features best-of-3 series, with all games played in the stadium of the highest-seeded team.
Despite a losing record of 45-55, the Miners rode a late season surge to the pennant in B Division, in which all four teams made up the bottom four teams in this season’s UA field. The Miners hosted the Chargers at Kompos Hill Stadium. The Chargers came in as the number 5 seed, a Wild Card with a 57-43 record, finishing just 2 games out of first in D Division. The Chargers were heavily favored to win this series, even though they were technically the lower-seeded team. This was the first-ever UA Playoffs appearance for both teams.
The Delle Stars and Prissley Trail Blazers fought for the A Division pennant in a tight, back-and-forth race that eventually saw the 4-time back-to-back Windsor Cup champion Stars take the pennant by 2 games with a 59-41 record. Delle hosted Prissley at Stars Ballpark of Darling. The big story as the postseason began was Prissley slugger Bob Hove, the 1935 home run and RBI leader, who still had 4 games to serve on a 5-game suspension for fighting in the second-to-last game of the Regular Season.
The winners of the Wild Card Playoffs move on to face either the Deerborn White Sox or the Redwood Owls, who have byes to the SemiFinal Series with the two best records in the UA.
