As we entered the week…

The Trail Blazers took the first two games of a three game series in Delle to take a 1-game lead over the Stars in A Division as Week 15 began. The teams would meet for the last time on Monday.

The Miners dominated in Week 14 and rode a 6-game win streak into Week 15, having taken the lead in the lowly B Division, where all four teams held a losing record.

The Redwood Owls were 10 games in front of the Brothers in C Division and holders of the UA’s best record at 56-31. Coming into Week 15, the Owls had a chance to become the first team to win a division pennant in 1935.

The Deerborn White Sox were winners of 3 straight games and held a 2-game lead over the Chargers in D Division. The Sox trailed the Owls by 3 games for the best record in the UA as Week 15 games got underway on Monday.

Monday, 9/9/1935

• Rivals 3B Hichem Colle tied the team record with a whopping 8 RBI. Colle went 4-for-5 with 2 HR, one of which was a grand slam in the 2nd inning. Rivals starter Lynn Johnston pitched 6.1 innings with just 1 hit, 1 walk, and zero runs allowed. He struck out 8. Railey beat Wight at home, 10-4.
• Herders RHP Abdoulaye Rolland struck out 11 batters in a 5.1-inning no-decision. Cherricaw walked off in the bottom of the 9th on a solo homer from SS Randy Morris. Final: CHE 3, PC 2.
• Prissley LF Hedi Kieffer was ejected from the game for something he said quietly to the home plate umpire after striking out. Neither Kieffer nor the umpire revealed the nature of Kieffer’s comments after the game. The Trail Blazers finished a 3-game sweep in Delle with a 4-2 win. Prissley now leads A Division by 2 games with 12 games to go in the season.
• Brothers starter Tom Lia Morro was phenomenal, allowing just 3 hits and zero runs over 8 IP. He walked nobody and had 8 Ks. Salvation beat Platte at the City Center, 2-0.

Tuesday, 9/10/1935

• Metros CF Eric Garcika hit 2 solo homers in Tiny Sea’s 6-5 home win over the first-place White Sox. The Metros are fighting to avoid relegation to the NPL a season after advancing to the Windsor Cup Finals.
• Spiders starter Kevin “Lefty” Leroux pitched 8 3-hit innings with no runs allowed, 1 walk, and 9 Ks. Wight won at home over Platte, 2-0.
• Miners rookie LHP Wilson Mendez went 7 innings in Northsouth, allowing zero runs on just 1 hit, walking 3, and striking out 6. Lia Kompos won, 2-0.
• Delle starter Jaime Ruiz went 8 innings with 1 earned run on 3 hits allowed. He walked zero and struck out 8. The Stars beat the Owls, 5-4. They now trail the Blazers by 1 game in A Division.

Wednesday, 9/11/1935

• Bears starter Oliver Medina pitched 7 innings with 8 Ks and 1 run allowed on 1 hit and 1 walk. Platte won in Wight, 5-1. Young Spiders reliever Enrique Peraltaka left with a hamstring strain and will likely miss the rest of the year.
• Chargers LF Jose Rios went 4-for-5 with a HR, a triple, and 2 RBI in Taawa’s 12-8 win at Roland.
• The Guardians beat the Miners in Northsouth, 10-2, ending Lia Kompos’ win streak at 8 games. The Miners lead the Spiders by 4 games in B Division with 9 games left in the season.

Thursday, 9/12/1935

• Deerborn starter Javier Rosaritoko allowed just 1 hit over 5.1 scoreless innings, walked zero, and struck out 6 in the White Sox’ 4-3 win at Tiny Sea.
• Rivals RHP Pedro Rivera allowed 5 hits in 7.1 scoreless innings with 11 Ks and zero walks. Railey won at Prissley, 5-0.
• Spiders CF T.J. Harrison went 2-for-4 with a bases-clearing triple and 4 total RBI. Wight edged Platte at home, 6-5.
• Stars 2B Francisco Lia Taawa sprained his ankle and will likely miss the rest of the year. Owls pitcher Vist Sek suffered an oblique strain; team doctors say he will likely be ready to pitch in the playoffs. Delle won on the road in Redwood, but the Owls became the first team to win a pennant, claiming the C Division championship with Salvation’s loss.
• Salvation SS Colin Sell will miss 10 days. He has been added to the IL with a “dead arm” . The Reapers beat the Brothers at home, 5-4. The loss eliminates the Brothers from contention for the C Division pennant, but they remain 4 games out of a wild card playoff berth.
• Guardians RF Martin Mata went 4-for-5 with a double and a 2-run HR for 4 total RBI. Northsouth beat Lia Kompos at Trefellen Field, 6-3.

Friday, 9/13/1935

• Guardian pitcher Henry Brown’s season is over. He strained a hamstring and had to be helped off the field in the 2nd inning of Northsouth’s 2-1 loss at Cherricaw. The injury isn’t too serious, but will likely take 2 weeks or more to heal.
• A terrible blow to the A Division champions cut their celebration short, as young ace pitcher Felipe Katakien is headed to the injury list and is reportedly unlikely to be back for the playoffs. He left Friday’s game in the 3rd inning in extreme shoulder pain. Rookie All-Star CF Albert Luna left for the Rivals with back spasms and will be day-to-day. Railey won at home over Redwood, 9-5.
• Tiny Sea IF Juan Korrea came off the bench and went 2-for-3 with a 3-run homer, as the Metros won a 10-inning thriller in Taawa, 8-7, as they fight to keep their hopes of avoiding relegation alive.
• Bears starter Jose Verdier will be day-to-day with an ab strain after leaving today’s game in the 2nd inning. The Bears beat Prissley at home, 10-2. The Trail Blazers have lost 3 of their last 4 since sweeping Delle. They are now tied with the Stars at the top of A Division with 8 games to go.
• Delle superstar SS Mario Olivo tied the team record with 3 doubles, bringing home 4 runs, in the Stars’ 8-5 win at Roland. The win puts Delle back into a tie with Prissley at the top of A Division with 8 games remaining.
• Miners C Gabriel Pentakaz went deep twice for 4 RBI, but Lia Kompos lost their 3rd straight game. Final: DEE 10, LK 7.
• Brothers 2B Trey Ellysian went 4-for-4 and walked once, hitting two doubles and bringing home 3 RBI. Salvation beat Lia Puedris at home 11-3.

Saturday, 9/14/1935

• The Trail Blazers lost their 3rd straight, with Platte winning at home, 3-2. The Blazers now trail the Stars by 1 game in A Division.
• Owls starter David Merlet pitched 6 1-run innings with 6 Ks and helped himself out with a 2-run homer in the 6th inning as Redwood stomped the Rivals in Railey, 9-1.
• Metros LF Joe Katakien went 3-for-4 with 2 solo HRs, but that was all for Tiny Sea as they dropped the game to the Chargers at Sapfoot Stadium, 6-2. The Metros remain 6 games in the cellar, slated for relegation next season with 7 games to go. The Chargers are 3 back of the White Sox in D Division and currently hold the top wild card spot.
• Stars LF Antonio Teakowa went 3-for-3 with 2 walks, a double, and his 21st home run. Delle won against Roland, 6-4, taking a 1-game lead in A Division after the Blazers’ loss.
• Kings LF John Bunce hit 2 HRs for 4 RBI, but Lia Peudris lost at Salvation, 6-5. Kings CF Jared Ellis and Brothers starter Tom Lia Morro were ejected for fighting int he 4th inning. Ellis hs been suspended for 4 games, and Lia Morro has been suspended for 5 games. Today’s outcome puts the Brothers 3 games out of the last playoff spot, while the Kings fall to 5 back.

Saturday, 9/15/1935

• Prissley lost their 4th straight game, 8-3 at the Bears. They now trail the Stars by 2 games in A Division with 6 games left in the season. With the series sweep, the Bears are now 5 games behind Prissley for the final playoff spot.
• Antonio Teakowa came off the bench to hit a pinch-hit walk-off homer in the bottom of the 9th, his 22nd HR of the year. The Stars beat the Stags, 5-4, and took a 2-game lead over the Trail Blazers in A Division.
• RHP Jose Tokorres pitched 5 3-hit innings with no runs, 1 walk, and 3 Ks for the Miners as they beat the White Sox at home, 7-3. Lia Kompos retains a narrow 1-game lead over Wight in B Division. The White Sox remain 3 games ahead of Taawa in D Division, and 3 games behind Redwood for the UA’s best record in the race for the Mark Davis Trophy.
