As we entered the week…

Coming into Week 14, the Prissley Trail Blazers had only lost 3 games since the All-Star break. They took the lead from the Delle Stars, leading A Division by 1 game as the week began.

Despite holding the 4th-worst record in the UA at 35-46, and having lost their last 4 games, the Wight Spiders remained atop B Division, 2 games in front of both the Guardians and Miners as Week 14 games began on Monday.

The Redwood Owls continued to hold first place in C Division and the UA’s top record, but led the Deerborn White Sox by just 3 games for the league’s top spot as Week 14 began.

The Deerborn White Sox led the Taawa Chargers by 2 games in D Division as Week 14 began, trailing the Owls by just 3 games for the league’s best record.

Monday, 9/2/1935

• Owls RF Ronald Joyner had a big 6-RBI day, going 3-for-5 with 2 HRs. Redwood stomped Tiny Sea, 10-1.
• Prissley RF Curt Sawyer left today’s game and was diagnosed with knee tendinitis. He will be day-to-day for 2-3 weeks, but said he expects to play through it with the Blazers chasing an A Division pennant. The Stags took two injuries to their pitching staff, with Mike Collignon leaving with shoulder soreness (day-to-day) and more serious news for Joaquim Jacquot, who will miss the rest of the year with severe rotator cuff inflammation. Roland beat Prissley, 2-1. This was the first back-to-back loss since August 6 for the Blazers.
• Stars LF Antonio Teakowa went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI in Delle’s 8-2 home win over Salvation.

Tuesday, 9/3/1935

• White Sox starter Jacob Hudson left in the 4th inning with a herniated disc and is likely to miss his next start. Deerborn lost in Lia Puedris, 5-3.
• Platte starter Jose Verdier threw 7 innings with 10 Ks and 1 run on 6 hits, but the Herders overcame the Bears in 10 innings, 2-1.
• Brothers All-Star RHP Tom Lia Morro was brilliant at home against the Rivals, going the distance and getting the shutout with 5 hits, 2 walks, and 10 strikeouts. Final: SAL 8, RAI 0.

Wednesday, 9/4/1935

• Delle RF Walter Abbott went off at the plate with a double and 2 HRs for 3 RBI as the Stars won in Wight, 9-7. Spiders 1B Ryad Renaud, last week’s Player of the Week, left with a back strain and will likely miss the rest of the season.
• Tiny Sea RF Paco Tutuo hit 2 HRs and a double, going 3-for-3 with 5 RBI. The Metros edged the Guardians at home, 9-8. Guardians 1B Cal Oluoch hit a grand slam and went 3-for-3 with 5 RBI in the loss.
• The Chargers put up 8 runs in the 3rd inning on the way to a 14-0 blowout of the Trail Blazers in Prissley. The red-hot Blazers have cooled a bit this week, now losing 3 of their last 4 games. They are now tied with the Stars for first place in A Division.
• Bears RF Gurr Gurr hit 2 homers for 4 RBI to lead Platte to a 4-1 win against the Herders.
• Redwood pitcher Craig Ogg left the game with elbow soreness and is headed to the IL for 10 days. The Owls beat the Stags, 6-2, at home.

Thursday, 9/5/1935

• Tiny Sea LHP Morgan Burnett will be day-to-day for the next 5-7 days with a sore shoulder. He left today’s game in the 2nd inning. The Metros lost at home to the Guardians, 10-3.
• Stars OF King Jackson went 3-for-6 with 4 RBI as Lia Puedris beat Wight on the road, 9-8.
• Herders starter Sonny Hernankez pitched 5 1-hit innings and struck out 9 batters, but left early with a sore shoulder. He has been added to the IL. Hernankez got the win as Cherricaw won in Platte, 9-5.
• Railey starter Jackson Scmitt was great through 7 innings, allowing no runs and just 3 hits, with 1 walk and 8 Ks. The Rivals blanked the Brothers on the road, 3-0.
• Kings 2B Bob White and White Sox ace Mathew Huertata were ejected for a fight in the 6th inning. White has been suspended for 4 games and Huertata for 2. Deerborn won the game in Lia Puedris, 8-6.
• Owls starter Will Shufflebottom pitched into the 9th, going 8.1 innings with 1 earned run on 2 hits, 1 walk and 7 Ks. Redwood beat Roland, 10-4. Stags pitcher Mike Collignon re-aggravated his sore shoulder after 23 pitches, and Stags pitcher Salim Mujer left with a mild hamstring strain and is day-to-day.

Saturday, 9/7/1935

• Roland 3B Patrick Tokorres hit a pair of solo shots as the Stags wona t home over the Metros, 6-3.
• White Sox starter Juan Kwacha struck out 9 over 7 IP, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits and 3 walks. Deerborn beat Northsouth at home, 3-2.
• The Trail Blazers won the first of 3 games against the Stars, leaving them tied at the top of A Division with 14 games to go. Bob Hove hit his league-leading 28th HR. Final: PRI 4, DEL 1.
• Kamel Gosselin’s stellar season continued for the Brothers. He pitched a complete game victory, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits and 1 walk, with 8 Ks. Salvation beat Platte, 4-2.
• The Owls crushed the Chargers in Taawa, 16-0. Marc Zorn and Fouad Lefevre each hits 2 HRs in the win. Mike Gurr was 1 out away from a complete game shutout. He allowed 5 hits over 8.2 scoreless innings with 5 hits, 2 walks, and 6 Ks. RF Paul Blount rached base 5 times, going 3-for-4 with 2 walks, a 3-run HR.
• Kings lefty ace Ben Anderson threw 6 scoreless, 2-hit innings. He walked 1 and struck out 9. The Kings went on to lose in Lia Kompos, however, 3-2. It is the Miners 5th straight win. They now lead B Division by 2 games over the Spiders, who had led the division almost all season.

Sunday, 9/8/1935

• Blazers 1B Bob Hove hit his UA-leading 29th homer, going 3-for-4 with 2 total RBI. Prissley won in Delle to take a tenuous 1-game lead in A Division over the defending UA champs. The Trail Blazers will go for the series sweep against the Stars tomorrow.
• Brothers starter Jeff Rogers pitched 8 scoreless innings with 5 hits and zero walks. He logged 8 Ks. Salvation beat Platte at home, 2-0. The Brothers are 4 games behind the Stars for the final playoff spot with 13 games left in the season.
• White Sox 1B Lee Gutierrekaz went 3-for-5 with 2 HR for 3 RBI. Deerborn walked off on Gutierrekaz’s 2nd blast, a solo shot in the bottom of the 13th. Final (13): DEE 5, NOR 4. The Sox lead the Chargers by 2 games in D Division.
• Kings starter Ron Taylor left in the 2nd inning after 29 pitches with shoulder pain. A diagnosis is forthcoming. The Miners won their 6th straight game and extended their B Division lead to 3 games over Wight.
• Rivals RF Gary Holland hit 3 doubles to tie the Railey team record. He went 4-for-4 with 2 RBI. The Rivals stomped the Spiders, 10-0.
• Chargers CF Jesus Vazquiza left after scoring a run the 8th inning. He came up hobbling after crossing the plate. He will be day-to-day for the next few days with knee soreness. Taawa beat Redwood, 9-6. They trail Deerborn by 2 games in D Division and currently hold the 1st wild card spot with 13 games to go.
