Monday, 6/19/1933
- Bears RH SP Will Shufflebottom went the distance in Prissley today. He allowed 4 hits and struck out 6 on his way to an 8-0 complete game shutout of the Trail Blazers.
- Deerborn LF Juan Tumaini went deep twice and knocked in 4 runs as the White Sox cruised to an 8-3 win at home over the Guardians.
- Roland LH SP Rich Smith went 7.2 innings and left with a 6-0 lead, but Redwood rattled off 7 runs in the final 2 innings to come back against the Stags. They walked off on a 2-run double from 1B Jesus Pultudos.
Tuesday, 6/20/1933
- Lia Kompos RF Jimmy Hamm threw a tantrum after a called third strike yesterday, going on a 3-minute tirade that included multiple obscenities. He then caused further delay by throwing equipment from the dugout onto the field before leaving after his ejection. Today he has been handed a 4-game suspension by the UA.
- Rivals ace pitcher Manny Vazquiza racked up 10 Ks over 7 scoreless innings in Railey’s 5-1 win over Lia Kompos.
- White Sox 2B Luke Lia Puedris hit a pair of HRs today, but Deerborn dropped the second game of the series against Northsouth, 11-5. White Sox ace Mathew Huertata came on in relief and gave up 4 runs in the 9th to let the game slip out of reach. They’ll play the rubber match tomorrow.
- Delle SP Stanley Quinn pitched 8 scoreless innings with 6 Ks today to set up a 1-0 walk-off win when a Jon Garcika single brought Mario Olivo home from second base in the bottom of the 9th.
- Stags CF Ramon Zuniga hit his 5th HR in his last 3 games today as Roland topped the Owls, 9-3.
- Stags SP Michael Mercer came out of today’s game with a seemingly serious injury to his throwing arm. We await a diagnosis. A lasting injury to one of their top starters could really put Roland against the wall after a slow start to the 1933 season.
Wednesday, 6/21/1933
- White Sox SP Roberto Tokorres struck out 9 batters in 6 innings before coming out of the game with abdominal pain. A strained ab muscle could bother him for the next couple of weeks. After Deerborn CL Carlos Garcika blew the save against the Guardians in the 9th, White Sox OF Samir Calvet won the game in the 10th on an RBI walk-off single.
- Trail Blazers LF John Bunce hit 2 HR today in Prissley’s 9-5 win over Platte. Bears RF Gurr Gurr strained a hamstring running the bases. He will be day-to-day over the next week or so.
- The Rivals completed their sweep of the Miners today with a 2-1 win. They are off to their best start in franchise history at 12-4.
- Delle SP Jeffrey Irvin struck out 6 batters in 7 innings for the win over Salvation. Final: DEL 2, SAL 0.
- Stags SP Noa Dutertre is pitching well for his new team. Dutertre went 8.1 innings, allowing 1 hit and striking out 7. Stags CF Ramon Zuniga homered again, his 6th in the last 4 days. He has tied Stars 3B Mario Olivo for the league HR lead. Roland beat Redwood, 6-1.
Thursday, 6/22/1933
- The Roland Stags signed RH RP Ferdinand Barthe to a 1-year deal worth $1.52 million. The 33-year old last pitched in the Regular Season with Delle in 1931.
- Stags LF Jose Lia Tinta has homered in 3 of his last 4 games. He was 2 for 3 with a 2-run HR today as Roland beat Delle, 2-1.
- White Sox RF Ivan Tuwaa hit 2 homers today in a 3-for-3, 4-RBI day. Deerborn beat Lia Kompos, 9-3.
- Trail Blazers CL Lass Len exited today’s game with 2 outs in the 9th, clutching his shoulder. He is expected to be out of commission for about 3 weeks with inflammation. Prissley beat Salvation, 9-6.
- Guardians star LF Andy Thompson has homered in 3 straight games. Thompson came to the Guardians from Salvation last year, but missed nearly the entire season with knee tendinitis. Cherricaw beat Northsouth today, 5 to 3.
- Bears SP Adam Evans went 7.2 innings and struck out 12 in Platte’s 11-2 stomping of the Taawa Chargers.
- Rivals 1B Pedro Kopano went 3 for 4 with 2 HR and 4 RBI in Railey’s 9-7 win at Redwood. Rivals CF Howard Tenney also stayed hot, hitting his 7th HR of the year and going 3 for 4 with 3 RBI.
Friday 6/23/1933
- Bears SP Craig Ogg notched 10 Ks over 6 IP, but the Chargers came out on top, 5-4.
- Roland has won their 4th straight after a rough start. They beat Delle again today, 3-1. Stags SP Edward Mercier tested his sore wrist in a relief appearance, but once again had to leave the game. More bad news for the surging Stags: LH CL Kraff Ogg will be day-to-day with tendinitis in his shoulder.
- Deerborn LF Juan Tumaini tied the league lead with his 8th HR, and rookie CF Miguel Lia Suunu went 3 for 4 with a HR, as the White Sox crusied to a 7-1 over the Miners in Lia Kompos.
- Herders 3B Lura Opdahl hit a double and a HR for 3 RBI, but the Guardians took the win, 7-4. Northsouth LF Andy Thompson went deep for the 4th straight game with a grand slam in the 1st inning.
- Rivals CF Howard Tenney tied the league lead with his 8th HR in Railey’s 5-1 win over Redwood. The Rivals currently lead the UA East by 2 games over Delle and Deerborn.
Saturday 6/24/1933
- Stags CF Ramon Zuniga hit another homer to take the league lead with 9 HR on the year, but the Stars avoided a series sweep with an 8-7 win in Roland.
- Blazers SS Ernesto Terwaa hit 2 HR, but the Brothers tied the game with a 4-run rally in the bottom of the 9th and walked off in the 10th on a sacrifice fly from 1B Hicham Brun. CF Jose Rivera had a double and a HR for 4 RBI total in the game. Final/10: SAL 10, PRI 9.
- Owls SP Jose Verdier pitched 8 scoreless innings with 6 Ks. Redwood ended the Rivals’ 5-game win streak, 3-0.
- Deerborn won their 4th straight, sweeping 3 games from the Miners with an 8-4 win.
- Platte SP Will Shufflebottom struck out 12 in 8 innings, allowing 2 ER on 4 hits, as the Bears took the rubber match in Taawa, 3-2.
Sunday 6/25/1933
- Stars OF Curt Lawson came off the bench for a grand slam home run in the 6th inning to put Delle over the top on a back-and-forth game against Railey. The Rivals nearly mounted a comeback in the 9th, but CL David Rogers held on for the save. The Stars win sets up a 3-way tie between Delle, Railey, and Deerborn atop the UA East at the end of Week 3.
- The Stags came out on top in a marathon 15-inning game against the Trail Blazers. Roland put up 3 runs in the top of the 15th and LHP Victor Silva held on in the bottom half of the inning for the win. Final/15: ROL 6, PRI 3.
- The White Sox tied the game in bottom of the 9th on an RBI double from 2B Luke Lia Puedris, then walked off in the 10th on a HR from 3B Rygh Ogg. It’s the 5th win in a row for Deerborn. Final/10: DEE 3, RW 2.
- Guardians RF Brad Bailey hit a pair of HR for 5 RBI in Northsouth’s 6-2 win at home against the Chargers. The win keeps the Guardians in first place in the UA West.
