UA News:

8/25:

  • The UA announces that it will present a physical trophy this fall to the team with the best Regular Season record. Prior to this season, the Regular Season champions have been honored by the league, but have not taken home any hardware. The Roland Stags were Regular Season champs in both 1928 and 1929. The manager of both of those teams, Mark Davis, retired after the 1929 season at age 61. He was quoted: “Well that’s awfully nice of them. I don’t know who I cheesed off that they decided not to do this ’til I was out to pasture.” Commissioner Jim Windsor’s office says the name and look of the new trophy are forthcoming.
  • Bears RHP Julio Martinezto lands awkwardly and twists his ankle on the 4th pitch of the game and exits. He is expected to make his next start. The Stars beat the Bears again, 5-4.
  • White Sox RF Curt Sawyer hits his 29th HR in Deerborn’s 9-5 win over Taawa.
  • Prissley RHP Charles Spencer strikes out 10 in 8.1 innings, allowing just 4 hits and 0 runs, as the Trail Blazers beat the Rivals, 2-1. Tomorrow is the final game of this year’s River Rivalry between the two teams.
  • Owls LF Ambroise Forestier has a 3 for 4 day with 2 HR and 3 RBI. He has now hit in 15 straight games. The Owls win a wild one in Lia Kompos, 14-13. Owls 3B Miguel Naggenda also has a hit streak going, hitting in 13 straight games.
  • Stags RF Albert Pentana hits his 27th HR as Roland takes another game at Salvation, 10-5. With the win, the Stags move into sole possession of first place in the Wild Card race.
