With the season winding down, the Riverside Ramblers became the first UMB team to clinch a playoff spot last week. With 5 games to go in the season, they’ll be playing for the top seed in the Western Division and a bye to the Division Championship Series.

Coming into this week, the Prissley Riverwolves led the Eastern Division by 4 games with 5 games remaining in the season. As the week began, Prissley was tied with Riverside for the league’s best record at 23-10.

UMB News

  • The Thundaru Lightning rebounded from a 2-game losing streak to beat the Crawsburgh Comets, 51-48. Thundaru F Timoteo Gilbuena dropped 20 points with 3 assists, a rebound, a steal, and 2 blocks in the win.
  • With GF Scott Goodman still out with a groin pull, Jewels PG Franklin Roberts once again stepped up and scored 10 points, along with 3 assists, 2 steals, a rebound, and a block. Gandolire beat Carver, 45-41. The Jewels are 3.5 games behind the first-place Ramblers.
  • The Roland Aces handed the Spirits a tough loss in Wight, 57-45. Arnold Hall scored 18, but the Aces won with 12 points, a rebound, and an assist from PG Daniel Saucedoto. The loss puts Wight a game behind Thundaru for the last playoff spot in the East. Roland is 3 games behind the Riverwolves for first place.
  • Lightning G Theodore Duncan scored 18 points on a 7-for-8 night with 4 threes as Thundaru handed Deerborn their second straight loss, 65-58. The Giants playoff hopes are waning, while the Lightning remain in the final playoff spot int he East, 2 games ahead of Wight.
  • Prissley SG Jesse Mills put up 17 points and 4 rebounds in the Riverwolves’ 62-47 win in Carver. The Wolves have clinched the Eastern Division number one seed and a bye to the Division Championship.
  • FC Shaun Burgess led the way for Plains City as they beat Railey, 46-32. Burgess had 8 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks. The Scouts hold the West’s last playoff spot over Salvation by 1.5 games.
  • Arnold Hall played great again with 18 points scored, but once again the Spirits fell short, dropping the game in Crawsburgh, 52-48. Comets GF Douglas Salzaka scored 14 points with 2 rebounds in the win. The Spirits are 2 games out of a playoff spot with 5 games to play.
  • Brothers GF Isaac Hart went off for 21 points with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal as Salvation beat Carver, 64-49. The win brings Salvation within half a game of the Scouts for the West’s final playoff berth.
  • The Wight Spirits got a much-0needed win over first-place Prissley, 56-44. Arnold Hall scored just 8 points, but sealed the win with 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals. Jesse Mills scored 16 points with 4 rebounds for the Riverwolves in the losing effort. The win brings the Spirits within 1 game of Thundaru for a playoff spot.
  • Cherricaw SG Victor Lee had a great game, scoring 19 points with 2 blocks and an assist as the Colts held off the Lightning, 52-48. The loss drops Thundaru’s lead over Wight for the final playoff spot to 1 game with 2 games to play.
  • Gandolire won their fourth straight game, beating Tiny Sea 50-44. PF Luther Caldwell scored a career-high 11 points with 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and a block. With one more win, the Jewels will clinch a playoff spot in the West.
  • Plains City FC Shaun Burgess scored a career-high 14 points, but the Scouts came out on the bottom of a 62-54 final score in Riverside. Ramblers C Tony Boyer dominated with a career-best 22 points, 5 assists, 5 rebounds, and a blocked shot. The loss cuts the Scouts lead to just one game over the Brothers for the final playoff spot.
