Happy New Year from Uplantic Majors Basketball! We wish everyone across Uplantica a happy and healthy 1935. The New Year brings with it the second half of the UMB season, in which we’re sure to see more thrilling hoops action as fourteen teams vie for six playoff spots. We will also enjoy the inaugural UMB All-Star Game, coming up in a couple weeks in Prissley. Thank you for your continued interest in Uplantic Majors Basketball!

Prissley SG Jesse Mills returned from an ankle sprain just in time for a big game between the division leaders as the Riverwolves wrapped up their season series against the Ramblers in Riverside. The Riverwolves owned the league’s best record at 17-4 entering Week 8.

The Riverside Ramblers sat atop the Western Division at 16-5 as we entered Week 8. They hosted the Prissley Riverwolves in a possible Finals preview to begin this week.

The Gandolire Jewels played again this week without GF Scott Goodman, who is still out with a back strain. The Jewels have held their own in Goodman’s absence and are positioned to play for a playoff spot as the season’s second half continues. Scott Goodman is expected to return to the court in Week 9.

- Roland GF Wayne Kennedy came off the bench for 11 points, 3 rebounds, and assist, a steal, and a block in a career night as the Aces won at home against Cherricaw, 56-55. SG Victor Lee scored 16 points for the Colts in the loss. The Aces move into second place in the Eastern Division with the win.
- The Prissley Riverwolves visited the Ramblers in Riverside in a possible Finals preview. The Eastern Division-leading Riverwolves held off the Ramblers, 56-49, earning their 18th win and sweeping the season series between the two teams, two games to zero. Both teams remain atop their respective divisions. Wolves SG Jesse Mills returned from an ankle sprain to play in the game and put up 20 points, 3 rebounds, and an assist to lead Prissley to the big win.
- Gandolire won on the road against Salvation, 40-33. The Jewels are 12-10, 4 games behind the Ramblers, tied for second in the West. The Brothers dropped their 5th straight game, falling to 9-13 as their slide continues.
- Wight PG Arnold Hall scored 22 points with 2 rebounds and 3 assists, but the Spirits fell short on the road in Deerborn, losing to the Giants 51-49. Deerborn PG Richard Mann scored 6 points with 8 assists and a block in the win. The Spirits now sit in third place in the East.
- Railey F Simon Waters scored 14 points with a rebound and an assist in the Colonels’ big upset against the second-place Scouts in Plains City. Final: RAI 62, PC 44.

- The Crawsburgh Comets have picked up a free agent as they prepare to make a playoffs push. Crawsburgh signed 25-year old F Travis Beil to a 2-year/$3 million contract today. Beil has been an assistant coach at Yankovic State University for the last two seasons. He initially decided against attempting to enter the UMB league, but answered a call last week for a workout with the Comets and performed better than he or team scouts anticipated. The Comets are 10-12 as Beil joins the team, currently 2 games out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Division.

- The Roland Aces made a huge statement against against the league’s top team and moved a game closer to first place, crushing the Riverwolves in Prissley, 68-31. FC Darryl Gutierrakaz scored 12 for Roland while veteran PG Danny Boyd came off the bench for 5 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals in the blowout win. The Riverwolves still have UMB’s best record at 18-5 and lead the Aces by 4 games in the East.
- The Riverside Ramblers bounced back from their loss to Prissley with a big win in Wight, beating the Spirits, 60-42. Ramblers G Clifford Simmons scored 10 and had career highs in rebounds (5), assists (6), and blocks (2). The Ramblers held Wight star Arnold Hall to 9 points and handed the Spirits their fourth straight loss. The Spirits are in third place in the East, 6 games behind the Wolves. The Ramblers stay atop the West.
- The Colonels pulled off another big upset, squeaking past the Gandolire Jewels at home in Railey, 47-45. Gandolire is in third place in the West, 5 games out of first. Railey PG Nathaniel Boyd led the way with 9 points, 4 rebounds, and an assist.
- Thundaru F Timoteo Gilbuena had another big game, leading the Lightning to a 48-46 win over the Comets. Gilbuena had 18 points, a career-high 5 rebounds, an assist, and a steal. The Lightning have won 3 out of 4 since suffering through tough losing stretch. They are in fourth place, a game out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Division.
- Scouts GF Ted Spencer scored 10 points and had a career-high 4 rebounds in Plains City’s 47-38 win on the road in Cherricaw. The Scouts are 4 games out of first in the Western Division.

- The Gandolire Jewels got a key win on the road against the Scouts, 54-46. Jewels FC Michel Kastro had a career night shooting, 70 for 8 for 14 points, along with 3 rebounds. The Scouts and the Jewels are tied for second place in the West with matching 13-11 records.
- Thundaru F Timoteo Gilbuena had another big night with 17 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists in the Lightning’s 50-43 win over the Tippers in Tiny Sea. With their second straight win, Thundaru is back at .500, one game out of a playoff spot.
- The Roland Aces stayed hot, earning their fourth straight win with a 58-48 victory over the Comets in Crawsburgh. Aces SF Floyd Alexander put up 11 points, 3 blocks, a rebound, and a steal. Comets FC Albert Mack scored 12 in the loss.
- The league’s top rebounder, Prissley FC Benjamin Walters, pulled down 9 more boards along with 9 points, 3 assists, and a blocked shot as the Riverwolves coasted to a win over the Colts, 44-30. The Riverwolves lead the Aces by 4 games in the UMB East.
- The Spirits snapped their 4-game losing streak with a big 52-37 over the Colonels at home in Wight. Spirits PG Arnold Hall put up 20 points, a block, an assist, and a steal in the win. Wight holds on to a 1-game lead over the Lightning for the last playoff spot in the East.
- The Ramblers got a big win at home against Salvation, winning 69-53. C Tony Boyer scored 14 points with 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Riverside leads both Gandolire and Plains City by 5 games in the Western Division. The Ramblers have won big all year long. They have the league’s best scoring differential, outscoring opponents by an average of 7 points per game.
