The Riverside Ramblers and the Prissley Riverwolves led their divisions as we entered Week 4 of the 1934-35 UMB season.

Big matchups this week included first-place Riverwolves versus sceond-place Lightning in the East, and first-place Ramblers versus second-place Scouts in the West.

UMB News

  • The Salvation Brothers are surging. They beat the Colts in Cherricaw, 48-40. The Brothers have won 4 straight games and 6 of their last 7. Salvation SG Issac Hart stayed hot, with a career-high 20-point performance, with 5 3pt, 6 rebounds, an assist, and a block.
  • The Wight Spirits needed overtime, but they beat the Gandolire Jewels on the road, 65-62, for their third straight win. Wight PG Arnold Hall set the UMB record with 10 assists in the game. Gandolire GF Scott Goodman dropped a career-best 27 points with 5 rebounds in the loss.
  • C Tony Boyer had 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists in the Ramblers’ 50-46 win over the Aces. Riverside stays atop the Western Division with the win.
  • Lightning F Timoteo Gilbuena had a big night with 22 points as Thundaru beat Deerborn, 63-50. The Lightning have won 3 straight games.
  • Prissley bounced back from their first loss of the year with a beatdown of the Colonels, winning 62-40 in Railey. Riverwolves F Frederick Steele scored career highs with 14 points and 4 rebounds.
  • The Riverside Ramblers played a strong game to stay in first place, beating the Plains City Scouts, 64-51. GF Luther James scored 20 points with 4 rebounds and 2 assists in the win. Scouts G Bryan Peterson suffered a concussion in the game on a collision under the basket, and could miss around a week.
  • The Tippers handed the Jewels their fourth straight loss as Tiny Sea won their first game at home this year. Final: TS 45, GAN 42.
  • Roland achieved a strong victory at home against the Lightning, 72-60. Aces F Nelson Peterson had a career high with 18 points in the win. Lightning G Theodore Duncan had another good game with 22 points scored in the loss.
  • Spirits PG Arnold Hall dropped 23 points as Wight edged Crawsburgh at home, 48-46. Wight has won four straight games. They are now in second place in the East, 2 games behind the Riverwolves.
  • After losing to them at home in the teams’ last game, the Colts beat the Brothers in Tiny Sea, 56-51. The loss ends the Brothers 4-game winning streak.
  • The Prissley Riverwolves beat the Thundaru Lightning for their third straight win, 58-54. Thundaru has lost two straight and now trail the Riverwolves by 4 games in the East. Theodore Duncan scored 16 points in the loss. He overtakes Prissley G Jesse Mills as the league’s top scorer. Riverwolves G Brandon Benakotas had a career-best 4 rebounds, with 17 points and 6 assists in the win.
  • Brothers GF Isaac Hart put up 19 points and 4 rebounds in another strong effort, but the Aces handed Salvation their second straight loss, 67-60. Roland G Jeffery Carey scored 15 points with a rebound, an assist, 2 steals, and a block in the win. The Aces are now tied for third in the Eastern Division, with a record of 7-5. The Brothers are tied for second in the West at 6-6.
  • The Scouts lost their second straight game, 42-39, to the Comets in Crawsburgh. GF Douglas Salzaka had a career night with 16 points and 5 rebounds in the win. The Scouts are in a three-way tie for second place in the West.
  • C Tony Boyer had a big night in Riverside, with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists, to lead the Ramblers over the Bannarets, 46-43. The Ramblers have won four straight games and lead the Scouts, Jewels, and Brothers by 3 games in the Western Division standings.
  • Comets star FC Albert Mack (strained shoulder) has been cleared to return to action in Crawsburgh’s upcoming game in Prissley. The Comets are the only team to beat the Riverwolves this season.
