Uplantic Majors Basketball’s inaugural season rolls on with Week 2 action!
Coming into this week, the Gandolire Jewels and Prissley Riverwolves led their respective divisions, both at 3-0. The Jewels hosted the Riverwolves in a showdown in Gandolire to end this week.

- After Thundaru Lightnin GM Curtis Katowan shared some strong words regarding his feelings toward the Salvation Brothers’ politics and their ties to the Harmonyc Brotherhood church in the preseason, the two teams met for the first time at Thundaru Civic Arena. The Brothers came into the game 0-3, but shocked the Lightning with a hearty trouncing, 61-49 for the franchise’s first win. SG Kirk Barnes scored 16 points and had 2 rebounds in the win. Thundaru GM Curtis Katowan had this to say after the game: “Well, they beat up on us on the court tonight, no doubt about it.”
- Jewels GF SCott Goodman put up 11 points with 7 rebounds and a block as Gandolire beat Crawsburgh, 54-46, to improve to 4-0 on the season. The Jewels are in first place in the Western Division.
- In a hard-fought contest, the Prissley Riverwolves stayed undefeated and atop the Eastern Division with a 65-63 victory at home against the Riverside Ramblers. Wolves SG Jesse Mills stayed hot with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and a block.
- Wight SG Terrance Savage had career highs with 18 points, 4 3pt, 2 steal, and 2 blocks. The Spirits beat the Colts in Cherricaw, 43-37.
- The Cherricaw Colts bounced back from their loss against the Spirits, going on the road to beat up on the Bannarets in Carver, 63-42. G Byron Lane came off the bench for 14 points while FC Dean Hicks had a career-high 12 points, with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal.
- The Plains City Scouts played a gem of a game against the Gandolire Jewels. Plains City handed Gandolire their first loss with a 70-42 beating. The Scouts had 27 rebounds and 22 assists as a team. Scouts FC Shaun Burgess had 12 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds, a steal, and a block. Both teams are 4-1, tied at the top of the West.
- In a day of blowout games, the Thundaru bounced back from their loss to the Brothers with an absolute beatdown of the Roland Aces. Thundaru won at home, 67-32. Lightning G Theodore Duncan erupted, setting the UMB record with 29 points. He hit 3 3pt and had a rebound and a steal in the big win. Duncan after the game: “Yeah, we were really feeling it tonight. This team can do big things when we’re all hitting our marks.”
- GF Isaac Hart had another good game for the Salvation Brothers, with 13 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and 3 blocks, as the Brothers won their second straight, beating the Railey Colonels, 39-22.
- Tiny Sea F Norman Ray dropped a career-high 17 points, but the Deerborn Giants came out on top in a close contest, 45-44. The Giants played a well-rounded team game, with no single player scoring in double digits. PG Richard Mann scored 5 points with 3 rebounds and 5 assists in the win.
- Wight SG Terrance Savage put up 17 points, but the Prissley Riverwolves remained the league’s only undefeated team with a road win in Wight. Wolves FC Benjamin Walters scored 7 points with 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 blocks. Final: PRI 52, WIG 40.
- The Comets played a strong game, but a big fourth quarter gave the Riverside Ramblers the win in Crawsburgh, 44-43. Ramblers GF Luther James scored 13 points in the win. The Ramblers improve to 3-2.
- The struggling Tiny Sea Tippers have signed veteran PF Kevin Hammond to a 3 year/$5 million deal. Hammond is historically a strong rebounder and intelligent play creator, but he has been out of competitive basketball for a few years. We will see how he adapts with the Tippers.
- The undefeated Prissley Riverwolves traveled to Gandolire to take on the Jewels. The Jewels came into the game off of their first loss, still tied for first place in the West. Prissley cruised to another blowout win the hand the Jewels their second straight loss. Wolves SG Jesse Mills put up a career-high 26 points with 6 threes, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists. FC Benjamin Walters scored 14 points with 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and a block. The Riverwolves remain the only undefeated team, in first place in the Eastern Division.
- The Riverside Ramblers beat the Scouts in Plains City, 56-43. Ramblers GF Luther James stayed hot with a big 19-point game. He also had 4 rebounds, 2 steals, a block, and an assist. Both teams are now 4-2, in a three-way tie with the Jewels for first in the West.
- The Thundaru Lightning notched another huge win, beating Railey 67-35. The Lightning are tied with the Riverwolves for the highest average point differential in the league at +12.2 ppg. Thundaru G Theodore Duncan had another big night, dropping 22 points with 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and an assist. The Lightning are 4-2, 2 games behind the Riverwolves in the Eastern Division.
- The Salvation Brothers have signed a pair of players who starred together in college and have worked side-by-side since then. G Brent Ball signed a 3 year/$6 million contract and PF Victorino Frankoso signed a 3 year/$5 million deal. The pair have been coaches at the Thundaru Juniors Basketball School since graduating from the University of Taawa, where they played alongside one another for three seasons.
- 31-year old Darren Atkinson will come out of retirement to play for the Riverside Ramblers for 2 years/$6 million. Atkinson led Thronson Central to an Orestric Coast Conference championship in 1926, and played with a number of unsuccessful touring teams before retiring from pro basketball in 1928. After five-plus years out of the game, his ability as a 31-year old is yet to be assessed.
