With a trip to Uplantic Bowl III on the line, the remaining four playoff teams met in the UPF Conference Championships this week!
The NC East champion Plains City Travelers hosted the NC West champion Tiny Sea Titans at the Plains City Polo Grounds. The Travelers played in their first franchise playoff game after earning a bye to the NC Championship during the regular season. The Titans came into the conference championship after a narrow win in a shootout with Elderwood in the Wild Card round. Both teams played for their first Uplantic Bowl berth.
The SC West champion Taawa Jackals hosted the SC East champion Delle Chaparrals at Sapfoot Stadium West. The Jackals earned a bye to the SC Championship with the UPF’s best Regular Season record on their quest to repeat as Pennington Cup champs. The Chaparrals came into the conference championship riding high on a big win against the Pumas in the Wild Card round. The Chaparrals lost in the first Uplantic Bowl in 1933 to a Northsouth Athletics team that was later revealed to have participated in a cheating scheme throughout the season. The Jackals won Uplantic Bowl II last season and looked to return to the big game this year.

TS (11-4) @ PC (10-3-1): The Tiny Sea Titans dominated the Plains City Travelers in the NC Championship, winning by a huge margin despite a 21-point fourth quarter by the Travelers. Titans QB Leland James was phenomenal, passing for 375 yards and 2 TDs, along with 2 rushing TDs on 16 rushing yards. James targeted WR Gerald Gomes on 8 catches for 125 receiving yards in the win. Tiny Sea is red hot, now having won 6 straight games as they head to their first-ever Uplantic Bowl appearance. The Titans will be playing in their home stadium, but will be designated as the visiting team, as the Uplantic Bowl is considered a neutral field. Final: TS 55, PC 36.

DEL (11-4) @ TAA (12-2): The Taawa Jackals and Delle Chaparrals met in last year’s Wild Card round, where the Jackals won a thriller in overtime to hand Delle their only home loss of the year. This time, the roles were versed with the Jackals playing host to the Chaps. Unlike last season, this game was not close. Taawa scored 17 points in the second quarter to go up 24-3 at halftime and then poured it on with a 24-point fourth quarter to complete a blowout win. Taawa QB James De La Cruz threw 4 TDs on 352 passing yards and threw one INT. De La Cruz connected with WR Jeremy Merkado for 125 yards and 2 TDs. The top ranked Delle defense held Taawa HB Rickie Bates in check early, but as the game wore on with a big Jackals lead, he worked his way to 97 rushing yards and 2 TDs. The Jackals return to the Uplantic Bowl to play for their second straight Pennington Cup! Final: TAA 48, DEL 17.
