Two more division champions were crowned in Week 12. The playoff picture begins to come more into focus in the Southern Conference, while the Northern Conference is still wide open with six of eight teams still eligible for a playoff berth.

Week 12 Scoreboard:

PET (2-9) @ DEE (5-6): The Deerborn Gryphons hosted the Petchon Predators. The Gryphons and Predators played a back-and-forth game. Deerborn QB Branden Warren connected with the league’s top receiver, Heriberto Lawson, to tie the game with 1:58 remaining. However, K John Luna missed the extra point and the game ended in the season’s first tie. Warren threw for 328 yards, 4 TDs, and 2 INTs in the tie. Lawson broke 1,000 total receiving yards this week. The tie will make the Gryphons’ playoff chances very slim; they are 1.5 games behind for the Wild Card with 2 games to go. Final: PET 30, DEE 30.

AMB (4-7) @ GR (3-8): With their playoff hopes hanging by a thread, the Amblint Poets visited the Green Rock Warriors. Warriors QB William Kastaneda passed for 256 yards and a TD as Green Rock overcame Amblint in the second half to take the win. The loss eliminates the Poets from playoff contention. Both teams are now looking ahead to next season. Final: GR 15, AMB 9.

NOR (1-10) @ LK (6-5): The Lia Kompos Pumas hoped to keep pace with the Platte Cragsmen in the Wild Card race and rebound from a 2-game losing streak as they hosted the lowly Northsouth Generals. The Generals led at halftime, but the Pumas were able to overpower them in the second half thanks in part to a big day from HB David Juarez. Juarez ran for 110 yards on 17 carries. The win puts the Pumas in the lead for the SC Wild Card, one game ahead of Platte after their loss to Taawa. Final: LK 19, NOR 13.

CAR (5-6) @ PC (8-3): The Plains City Travelers aimed to take the NC East division as they hosted the Carver Bulldogs. A thrilling seesaw game ended with a 27-yard FG by Travelers K Donnie Scanlon for the win. Travelers QB Phillip Marinna’a had 213 passing yards on an 18-for-25 day with 2 TDs and 1 INT. Travelers HB David Samaniega is the first rusher this season to break 1,000 yards. He is atop the league with 1,007 yards rushing. The win gives Plains City their first division title after narrowly missing the playoffs based on a tiebreaker affected by a scheduling quirk last season. They currently have the best record in the Northern Conference and hope to lock up a first round bye in the final two weeks. Carver is eliminated from playoff contention with the loss. Final: PC 20, CAR 19.

DEL (8-3) @ RW (4-7): The Delle Chaparrals visited the Redwood Flyers with a chance to lock up the SC East title with a win. The Flyers needed a win to keep their slim playoff chances alive. Delle played a strong game, with QB Hubert Aguirre passing for 2 TDs and zero INTs on 244 yards. The win gives the Chaparrals their second straight SC East division championship. They will host the Wild Card team in the first round of the UPF Playoffs. The Flyers are eliminated from the playoff race with the loss. Final: DEL 17, RW 7.

PLA (6-5) @ TAA (10-1): The Taawa Jackals hosted the Platte Cragsmen at Sapfoot Stadium West. The game marked the return of MVP front-runner QB James De La Cruz for the Jackals. His return was triumphant; De La Cruz went 27 for 34 with 399 passing yards and a whopping 5 TDs. The win locks up the top seed and a first round bye in the playoffs for Taawa. Platte falls a game behind the Pumas in the Wild Card race. Final: TAA 41, PLA 34.

SAL (7-4) @ TS (7-4): The Salvation Brothers and the Tiny Sea Titans met for the second time this season, with first place in the NC West on the line. The Titans held off a late comeback by the Brothers to sweep the season series and take over first place in the division. Titans HB Anthony Kamzee ran for 85 yards and a TD on 13 carries in the win. The Brothers are tied for second place, 1 game behind, with 2 games to go in the season. Final: TS 23, SAL 20.

ELD (7-4) @ WIG (5-6): The Elderwood Archers looked to stay in first place in the crowded NC West division, while the Wight Ravens hoped to stay in the Wild Card race with a win as the two teams met at Jenkyns Stadium. Wight jumped out to an early lead and managed to hold off an Archers comeback to come away with the win. Archers QB Hugh Ricketts couldn’t get much going in the air, but he rushed for 101 yards, much of which came on broken passing plays. The effort wasn’t enough as the Archers lost their third straight and dropped into second place, 1 game behind the Titans in the NC West. They are currently tied with Salvation for the NC Wild Card. Wight’s win puts the Ravens 1 game behind the Archers and Brothers in the Wild Card race. Final: WIG 25, ELD 22.
