We are halfway through the Regular Season. Division races are heating up, with ties atop both Northern Conference divisions.

Week 7 Scoreboard:

DEL (6-0) @ AMB (2-4): The Delle Chaparrals looked to stay unbeaten in Amblint against the Poets. The Chaparrals are the UPF’s top ranked defense and they were great again in this game, holding the Poets to just 2 FGs in the game. The Chaps also sacked Amblint QB Sean Trask 8 times on the day. LB Gregory Moradel and DL Douglas Taine’e each had 3 sacks while DE Jason Gomez had 2. Moradel had 11 total tackles in the game and recovered a fumble. The Chaparrals hold the largest division lead, 3 games ahead in the SC East. Final: DEL 10, AMB 6.

NOR (1-5) @ CAR (2-4): After a tough start to the season, the Carver Bulldogs looked to win their third straight game as they hosted the lowly Northsouth Generals. The game was a close one, with Carver ultimately overcoming a brief fourth quarter Generals lead to hold on for their third straight victory. Bulldogs LB Isiah Martinez recorded 3 sacks on 8 total tackles in the win. The Bulldogs are now just one game out of first place in the NC East after starting the season 0-4. Final: CAR 21, NOR 17.

ELD (4-2) @ DEE (4-2): Division leaders, the Elderwood Archers and Deerborn Gryphons, met in a tough mid-season test at Gryphons Stadium. QBs Hugh Ricketts (ELD) and Branden Warren (DEE) have both had successful seasons so far, but Ricketts played the better game today. Ricketts was 25 for 37 for 361 yards and 3 TDs with zero INTs, while Warren threw for 263 yards, 2 TDs and 2 INTs, as well as a lost fumble. The two teams were tied at 20 as the fourth quarter began. The Gryphons took the lead on a FG by K John Luna with 2:27 to go. Hugh Ricketts started the ensuing Archers possession with a 42-yard pass to HB Mark Muinos and capped off the drive with 6-yard TD pass to WR Joel Landon to put Elderwood over the top. Final: ELD 27, DEE 23.

GR (1-5) @ LK (4-2): The Lia Kompos Pumas looked to build on their strong win in Week 6 as they hosted the struggling Green Rock Warriors. The Warriors played the Pumas tough all day, taking the the lead early in the fourth quarter on a TD pass From QB William Kastaneda to WR David Valdekaz. The Green Rock defense then held the Pumas to a FG with 3:03 to go. The Pumas got one more chance with 1:50 left in the game. Pumas QB Gerald Painter led a drive to the red zone, but ultimately ran out of time on a comeback. William Kastaneda went 24 for 34 and threw for 367 yards and 3 TDs in the upset win. Final: GR 28, LK 24.

TS (3-3) @ PC (4-2): The Tiny Sea Titans visited the Plains City Polo Grounds to take on the first-place Travelers. In a seesaw game, the Travelers took a 1-point lead as the fourth quarter began. The lead would change and change again, with Plains City ahead of Tiny Sea, 28-23, with 3:01 to go. Titans QB Leland James led a 78-yard drive capped off by an 11-yard pass to WR Gerald Gomes for the go-ahead TD. A 2-point run by HB John Olivares made it a 3-point game with 33 seconds left. Leland James passed for 318 yards and 2 TDs in the narrow win. He also picked up 63 yards on 6 rushes. With the win, the Titans are a game out of first in the NC West, while the Travelers remain tied with the Gryphons in the NC East. Final: TS 31, PC 28.

PLA (3-3) @ RW (1-5): The Platte Cragsmen looked to bounce back from a tough loss in Week 6 as they visited the Redwood Flyers on a wet and rainy day at Beach Gate Park. Redwood held a 1-point halftime lead, but Platte rode a 19-point fourth quarter to a 2nd-straight win. The Flyers threatened repeatedly, but the Cragsmen were able to overcome their efforts for the road win. Platte HB Adam Bradshaw ran for 114 yards on 29 rushes, but QB Alvin Crane struggled in his return from a concussion. The Flyers held Crane to 160 passing yards and intercepted him twice. The Cragsmen remain 3 games behind the Chaparrals in the SC East. Final: PLA 35, RW 27.

SAL (4-2) @ TAA (6-0): The Taawa Jackals looked to stay undefeated as they hosted a tought Salvation Brothers team. The number two ranked Salvation defense frustrated Taawa’s number one offense all day. Jackals QB James De La Cruz was held to 158 passing yards and 1 TD. QB William Maya passed for 292 yards and a TD for Salvation. The Jackals didn’t find the endzone until under 4 minutes remained in the fourth quarter as De La Cruz threw a TD pass to top receiver Jeremy Merkado, who had 81 receiving yards in the game. After the TD, the Jackals led 10-6. Taawa stopped the ensuing Salvation drive with 1:52 to go, but quickly went three and out to give the ball back to Salvation with 1:34 left. The Brothers marched down the field to take the lead on a pass from William Maya to WR Mitch Hernandez with 28 seconds left. The Jackals remain in first place in the SC West by 2 games after suffering their first loss. The Brothers are tied for first in the NC West. Final: SAL 13, TAA 10.

PET (1-5) @ WIG (2-4): The Wight Ravens played host to the Petchon Predators. Wight was looking to overcome a 3-game losing streak while Pethcon had lost 4 straight games. In a close game, Ravens K Dalton Kandoro hit a 47-yard FG with 5 seconds left in the game to hand Petchon their 5th straight loss. Wight WR Jonathan Huber pulled down 6 catches for 82 yards and a TD in the win. QB Alphonso Esparkia passed for 265 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT. Petchon QB Leslie Rambukla’a also played very well with 330 passing yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT. With the win, Wight is 1 game out of first place in the NC East. Final: WIG 21, PET 18.
