Week 5 Scoreboard:

AMB (1-3) @ CAR (0-4): The Carver Bulldogs aimed for their first win of the year at home against the Amblint Poets. The Bulldogs dominated for sixty minutes on their way to a rout of the Poets. Carver LB Bruce Campbell recorded 4 sacks on 10 total tackles. Carver QB Oscar Ivey had a very good game, throwing for 268 yards, 3 TDs, and 1 INT. Amblint QB Sean Trask, on the hand, had a rough outing, throwing 3 INTs. The Bulldogs kept the Poets out of the endzone in the game. Final: CAR 40, AMB 8.

WIG (2-2) @ DEE (3-1): The Wight Ravens looked to even the standing atop the NC East with a win on the road against the Deerborn Gryphons. In a tight struggle, the Ravens led at halftime, but the Gryphons were able to gain the lead and hold the Ravens off for a narrow win. Deerborn LB Gary Merced had 2 sacks in the game, 1 for a safety in the fourth quarter. Gryphons QB Branden Warren was great, throwing for 232 yards and 2 TDs. TE Kelly Cruz racked up 93 yards on 7 catches in the victory. The Gryphons remain in first place in the division. Final: DEE 28, WIG 23.

TS (2-2) @ ELD (3-1): The Tiny Sea Titans and the Elderwood Archers met again this week in Elderwood after the Titans handed the first-place Archers their only loss so far this year back in Week 3. The Archers scored 2 TDs in the fourth quarter to take a late lead, thanks in part to a fumble by Tiny Sea HB John Olivares, which gave the Archers the ball while trailing by 3 points with 6:32 to go in the game. The game came down to a 4th and goal attempt from the Elderwood 2-yard line. Miguel Molandes tackled Anthony Kamzee for a loss to end the drive and secure the win to keep the Archers in first place in the NC West. TE Mapuana’a Horvath had 134 receiving yards and a TD in the game. Final: ELD 30, TS 26.

PET (1-3) @ GR (0-4): As the only winless team in the league, the Green Rock Warriors hosted the Petchon Predators, who have also been struggling this year. The Warriors beat up on the Predators in a much-needed blowout win, keeping the Predators from scoring a TD in the game. The Warriors intercepted 2 of QB Leslie Rambuka’a passes in the game and held him under 200 passing yards. Green Rock LB James Pultudos had one of those INTs, along with a sack. The Warriors got their first win, leaving both teams with a 1-4 record. Final: GR 26, PET 9.

TAA (4-0) @ NOR (1-3): The unbeaten Taawa Jackals visited the struggling Northsouth Generals. Northsouth played Taawa tough in the early going, but the Jackals eventually pulled away for a strong win in the rain. QB James De La Cruz stayed hot this week, going 19 for 27, with 217 yards and 2 TDs. Rickie Bates, Dale Moulin, and Joseph Buckley combined for 113 yards on the ground for Taawa in the win. Final: TAA 20, NOR 12.

DEL (4-0) @ PLA (3-1): The Delle Chaparrals met the Platte Cragsmen in a big division showdown. Delle pulled away in the second half, and the Cragsmen ran out of time to mount a comeback. Chaps QB Hubert Aguirre went 26 for 27 with 262 passing yards and 2 TDs in the game. Backup QB Jermaine Powers and HB Adam Bradshaw played well for Platte, but couldn’t overcome Delle’s 404-yard offensive day. With the win, the Chaparrals have a 2-game lead on the Cragsmen in the SC East. Final: DEL 37, PLA 29.

LK (2-2) @ RW (1-3): It was a wet and stormy day in Redwood as the Flyers hosted the Lia Kompos Pumas. The Pumas looked to bounce back from two straight losses to stay in the race for the division. The Pumas’ top-ranked defense lived up to its billing as Lia Kompos cruised to a shutout to end its losing streak. DE Julio Eskobeda had an incredible 5 sacks in the game as the Pumas defense held the Redwood offense to 189 total yards. In total, Lia Kompos sacked Redwood QB Lemanea’a Gacharna 8 times in the game. Pumas QB Gerald Painter passed for 231 yards and a TD, and ran for an additional 36 yards. Final: LK 16, RW 0.

PC (2-2) @ SAL (3-1): The Plains City Travelers visited the Salvation Brothers. The Brothers led early, but the Travelers battled back to win on a 50-yard FG by K Donnie Scanlon with 11 seconds remaining. Plains City FB Arnold Egan had a big day with 66 yards on 6 rushes and a TD, along with a 9-yard TD catch. Travelers QB Phillip Marinna’a struggled, but Brothers QB William Maya played very well with 312 passing yards and a TD. It wasn’t enough, as Plains City squeaked by for the victory. Both teams are now a game behind in their divisions. Final: PC 20, SAL 19.
