The 1934 UPF season rolls on with Week 4 action! Would the Jackals and Chaparrals stay unbeaten this week?

Week 4 Scoreboard:

AMB (1-2) @ DEL (3-0): In another low-scoring affair, the Delle Chaparrals topped the Amblint Poets at home to remain unbeaten. The Delle defense was integral to their win. The Chaps held the Poets to a single field goal, with DL Douglas Taine’e recording 4 tackles, with 3 for a loss and 2 sacks. HB Robert Lavender and FB Thomas Lovell combined for 130 yards in the win. Some bad news for the undefeated Chaparrals: WR Pablo Didier will be out for two weeks with a hamstring injury. Final: DEL 16, AMB 3.

ELD (2-1) @ LK (2-1): Two heavyweight teams looked to bounce back from losses in Week 3 as the Lia Kompos Pumas hosted the Elderwood Archers. The Archers jumped on the Pumas early and led 20-6 at halftime. Lia Kompos rallied in the fourth quarter with TDs on back-to-back possessions to tie the game at 20 with 4:48 to go. The Archers were able to march down and the field and kick a go-ahead FG with 56 seconds to go. Elderwood QB Hugh Ricketts only threw for 122 yards in the game, but was good for 2 passing TDs along with 94 rushing yards on 8 carries. Final: ELD 23, LK 20.

DEE (2-1) @ NOR (1-2): The mood was jubilant in Northsouth as the Generals hosted the Deerborn Gryphons after Northsouth’s first-ever franchise win in Week 3. The game belonged to Deerborn, however. They bounced back from their Week 3 loss with a convincing win. Gryphons QB Branden Warren passed for 251 yards and 3 TDs while RBs Lindsey Serna, Manuel Gomez, and Charles Korir combined for 133 rushing yards in the game. Generals rookie QB Quincy Medina had a rough day with 3 INTs, but did manage to pass for an impressive 343 yards and 3 TDs in the loss. Final: DEE 37, NOR 27.

WIG (2-1) @ PC (1-2): The Plains City Travelers hosted the Wight Ravens in a division match-up at the Polo Grounds. Plains City dominated Wight on the way to a 41-21 victory. Travelers QB Phillip Marinna’a was great, throwing for 392 yards and 2 TDs. TE Lopeti Gallagher picked up 136 yards receiving and a TD in the win. Final: PC 41, WIG 21.

PET (1-2) @ PLA (2-1): With starting QB Alvin Crane out with a concussion, the Platte Cragsmen hosted the Petchon Predators. After a shaky performance last week, backup Jermaine Powers was great, throwing 4 TDs on 274 passing yards. Platte HB Adam Bradshaw rushed for 91 yards on 20 carries. Petchon rookie QB Leslie Rambuka’a played well and kept the Predators in the game with 347 yards and 3 TDs, but the Cragsmen held Petchon off for the home win. Final: PLA 31, PET 26.

GR (0-3) @ RW (0-3): With both teams looking for their first win of the year, the Green Rock Warriors visited the Redwood Flyers. In a tale of two halves, the Flyers overcame a 10-0 Warriors lead at halftime. Flyers FS John Ukles had an INT and a sack in the defensive effort. Final: RW 16, GR 10.

CAR (0-3) @ SAL (2-1): The Carver Bulldogs hoped to turn around a disappointing start as they traveled to Salvation to play the Brothers. The Brothers defense gave QB Oscar Ivey and the Bulldogs fits, holding Ivey to 142 yards on a 16-for-41 day with 2 INTs and zero TDs. DL Demarcus Jernigan had 2 sacks on 3 tackles for a loss. The Brothers held onto a share of first place in the NC West with the win. Final: SAL 12, CAR 3.

TS (2-1) @ TAA (3-0): The unbeaten Taawa Jackals met the Tiny Sea Titans at Sapfoot Stadium West in what would become an instant classic. The Jackals dominated early and led the Titans 27-13 going into the fourth quarter. Tiny Sea QB Leland James led the Titans to a 17-point fourth quarter and they gained the lead for the first time with 45 seconds remaining in the game. QB James De La Cruz and the Jackals offense were able to march down the field thanks in part to a roughing the passer penalty against Tiny Sea. Taawa regained the lead on a 17-yard TD pass from De La Cruz to WR Jeremy Markado with 11 seconds to go and remained unbeaten on the season. Final: TAA 34, TS 30.
