The UA SemiFinal Series were held this week, with the #1 seed Delle Stars facing the #6 Platte Bears, and the #2 Redwood Owls taking on the #5 Tiny Sea Metros. These final four teams played best-of-5 series to determine the two teams that will move on to this year’s Windsor Cup Finals.

The Bears squeaked into the playoffs, winning a 1-game tiebreaker with the Guardians to take the final playoff spot. They played the top-seeded Delle Stars in the SemiFinals after defeating perennial Finals participants, Deerborn, in a 3-game series. The Stars played for a berth in their fourth-straight Finals appearance. They have won the Windsor Cup three years running. The Bears are no stranger to the postseason despite their underdog status this year. They won the Cup in 1930 and are appearing in their fourth postseason.

The Metros and the Owls faced off in the other SemiFinal Series. For both teams, this is the first playoff appearance. Redwood was great all year, taking home their first-ever division pennant as D Division champs and earning a bye to the SemiFinals with the UA’s second-best record. The Metros are playing their first season in the UA after being one of four teams added from the NPL as part of the UUBO merger. Tiny Sea surged over the last month of the season and locked up the #5 seed. The winner of this SemiFinal Series, whether the Owls or the Metros, will make their first appearance in the Windsor Cup Finals.
