Spiders uitility man Jeff Pekerez had another great week, taking home his 2nd Player of the Week Award this season. He hit .500 during the week, with 5 HR and 9 RBI.

The Stars, White Sox, Herders, and Owls continued to lead their divisions this week. As we approach the mid-point of the season, nearly every team is within 6 games of a playoff spot. It’s anybody’s season!
Owls 3B Juan Tokorres hit the 200th home run of his career this week!
Former MVP Ambroise Forestier of the Tiny Sea Metros learned on Tuesday that his shoulder inflammation will require surgery and will keep him out of baseball for the rest of the 1934 season.

All-Star voting continues! Fans across Uplantica have been voting for their favorite players. The winners will play in the 7th UA All-Star Game, coming up on August 10 at the Salvation City Center in Tiny Sea City.

Monday, 7/16/1934
- White Sox reliever Joao Thery got a big payday today. The team announced a 2-year, $9.6 million contract extension. In 18 appearances this year, Thery has struck out 23 and crafted a 3.44 ERA.
- Owls 2B Hunter Phillips had a 5-for-5 day, but Redwood lost to Tiny Sea, 6-4.
- Chargers LH SP Doyle Lane notched 11 Ks in 6 IP. Taawa won their 5th straight game with a 4-3 win over Delle, earning a 3-game series sweep. Stars 1B Pedro Bausi hit his 15th HR in the loss.
- Bears 3B Gavin Jones hit 2 HR for 4 RBI and 1B Gurr Gurr hit a double and a 3-run HR as Platte beat Wight, 12-7.
Tuesday, 7/17/1934
- 1928 MVP, Metros LF Ambroise Forestier, learned that he will miss the rest of the 1934 season. Shoulder inflammation has kept him out of action since July 3, and doctors have now said it will require surgery. Forestier hit .300 with 5 HR and 14 RBI this season.
- Stags closer Mike Collignon strained a throwing muscle, and could be affected for the next week or two. He has not been added to the IL. Roland beat Tiny Sea, 3-2.
- White Sox young pitching star Juan Kwacha struck out 11 batters over 7.1 innings and earned the win as Deerborn beat Platte, 6-3.
- Guardians RH RP Raul Babechi sprained his ankle. He is headed to the IL and could miss up to 5 weeks.
- Rivals RF Gary Holland hit a double and 2 triples for 2 RBI as Railey beat Northsouth, 6-4.
- Reapers C Luis Rokodriguez left the yard twice for 3 RBI and 1B Antonin Legrand hit a double and a HR for 3 RBI. Plains City put up 5 runs in the 12th inning to beat Redwood, 8-3.
- Stars LF Antonio Teakowa hit his 15th HR of the year, but Delle lost their 5th straight game. Final: SAL 5, DEL 3. Delle maintains a 2-game lead in the A Division.
Wednesday, 7/18/1934
- Trail Blazers LF John Bunce hit 2 HR for 4 RBI. He has hit 3 HR in the last 2 games and has 12 HR this year. Prissley beat Lia Kompos, 10-3.
- Stars RH SP Jeff Rogers struck out 9 over 8 1-run innings. Delle broke their losing streak with a 3-1 win over Salvation.
- Stags starter Michael Mercer pitched 8 scoreless innings, but the Metros scored on a Jesus Katakowa single off of LHP Kraff Ogg to walk off with a 1-0 win.
- Northsouth 3B Luis Hecini went 4 for 5 with 2 HR and 4 RBI. The Guardians rallied for 3 runs in the 9th to take an 11-10 win in Railey.
- Wight utility star Jeff Pekerez went 3 for 3 with a double and 2 HR as Wight beat Carver, 9-6.
- Redwood RH SP Dustin Parker allowed just 3 hits over 7 scoreless innings. The Owls beat the Reapers, 8-0.
Thursday, 7/19/1934
- Chargers RH SP Mike Lia Yorino struck out 11 over 7.1 innings, but was tagged with the loss as Cherricaw swept a 3-game series with a 4-3 win over Taawa.
- White Sox RF Curt Sawyer hit his 15th HR of the year, but Platte beat Deerborn, 5-2.
- Prissley 1B Joe Katakien hit 2 HR for 5 RBI in the Trail Blazers’ 12-4 over Lia Kompos.
- Owls RH SP Will Shufflebottom gave up just 1 ER, striking out 8 in 8 innings for the W. Redwood beat Plains City, 3-1.
Friday 7/20/1934
- Rivals LH SP Howard Ferguson struck out 8 over 5 hitless innings with zero walks. He has maintained a league-best 1.09 ERA this season. Railey beat Taawa, 3-1.
- Stars LF Antonio Teakowa hit his 16th HR, but Spiders 1B Ryad Renaud took back the UA lead with his 17th. Delle beat Wight, 6-2.
- White Sox RF Curt Sawyer hit his 16th HR in Deerborn’s 8-2 win in Carver.
- Stags RP Mike COllignon re-aggravated his shoulder strain, but is still day-to-day. Redwood beat Roland with a 3-run 9th inning, 12-10.
- Guardians RF Brad Bailey hit a pair of solo homers in Northsouth’s 7-2 win over the Reapers.
- Miners 3B Hichem Colle hit a double and 2 HR for 4 RBI. Bears SS Tim Rogers hit a double and 2 HR for 3 RBI. Lia Kompos beat Platte, 16-9.
Saturday 7/21/1934
- Spiders utility man Jeff Pekerez hit 2 HR while Stars LF Antonio Teakowa tied the UA HR lead with his 17th dinger. Delle won the game, 6-4.
- Deerborn LH SP Wiley Ellysian went 8.1 innings and struck out 11 batters, allowing just 1 run. He also hit a 2-run HR. The White Sox pounded the Canaries, 10-1.
- Carver RP Kip Henry tore his rotator cuff and will miss at least a calendar year.
- Owls 3B Juan Tokorres had one of the best days of his storied career. The 1930 UA MVP hit a double and lifetime home runs number 199 and 200 as Redwood edged Roland, 8-7.
- Trail Blazers CF Ignacio Duarteka hit 2 HR for 5 RBI in Prissley’s 8-6 win against Tiny Sea. Prissley RF Bob Hove hit his 4th HR of the week, his 15th of the year.
- Brothers RH SP Francisco Lia Taawa notched 8 Ks over 8 1-run innings. Salvation beat Cherricaw, 4-1.
- Bears SS Tim Rogers had a second straight 2-HR day as Platte beat Lia Kompos, 5-3.
Sunday 7/22/1934
- Owls C Alfonso Lia Suunu hit a pair of HR for 4 RBI in Redwood’s 11-1 thrashing of the Stags. Stags RP Mike Collignon once again left with shoulder pain, but remains day-to-day. Redwood wins their 5th straight and owns the league’s best record at 30-16.
- Prissley reliever Roberto Gatalvan has pertially torn his UC ligament and will miss a calendar year. The Trail Blazers lost to the Metros, 7-0.
- Stars 3-time MVP SS Mario Olivo went deep twice as part of a 3-for-6, 5-RBI day as Delle beat Wight, 5-3. The Stars have won 5 straight and are atop the A Division. Spiders star Jeff Pekerez hit his 3rd home run of the last 2 games and his 5th of the week in the loss.
- White Sox 2B Cliff Moyer hit 2 HR, but Deerborn dropped the game to Carver, 8-6.
- Chargers CF Myles Williams left the game against the Rivals with forearm stiffness. He will be out for 3-4 days but is not going on the IL. Taawa beat Railey in 10 innings, 7-6.
- Bears 3B Gavin Jones hit his 15th HR in Platte’s 7-5 win over the Miners. Platte is 3 games behind Cherricaw in the C Division.
- Reapers rookie 2B Felipe Tolduoso hit a pair of homers, but the Guardians got the better of Plains City, 8-7. The Reapers trail the Stars by 2 games in the A Division.

Tuesday, 7/17/1934
- Captains RH SP Gustavo Rivera allowed just 3 hits over 7.1 scoreless innings. He struck out 9 batters in Riverside’s 1-0 win over the Blue Sox.
Wednesday, 7/18/1934
- Lakers LF Brandon Itaawa went 4 for 5 with a double and a HR for 5 RBI in Elderwood’s 14-7 win against the Carp.
- Toppers LH SP Elliott Gaillard pitched 8.2 innings, giving up 1 ER on just 2 hits and striking out 8. Trimble beat Gandolire, 6-1.
- Greys 1B Bob Gunther hit a double and 2 HR for 3 RBI in Tillers’ 5-4 win over Green Rock.
Thursday, 7/19/1934
- Blue Sox 3B Lura Opdahl hit 2 HR in Lia Puedris’ 5-4 loss to Riverside. There have been rumors recently that the Blue Sox are shopping Opdahl on the trade market.
Friday, 7/20/1934
- Lakers RF Mike Garrison went 4 for 5 with a double and triple for 4 RBI as Elderwood beat Green Rock, 11-3. RH SP Paul Faucher got the W and struck out 9 batters over 7 1-run innings.
- Kontekia LH SP Mustafa Martin pitched 7 3-hit, scoreless innings in the Mystics’ 4-0 win over the Ducks.
Saturday, 7/21/1934
- Blue Sox 3B Lura Opdahl had another great day with 2 HR for 4 RBI in Lia Puedris’ 8-3 win in Petchon. He leads the league with 17 HR and is reportedly on the trade block for the Blue Sox.
- Gallstone LF Jose Ibarra went 3 for 5 with a double and a HR for 4 RBI. The Ropers beat the Toppers, 8-5.
- Elderwood CF Tim Moore hit a triple and 2 solo HR in the Lakers’ 9-3 win over Green Rock.
Sunday, 7/22/1934
- Elderwood LF Gus Moore hit a double and a HR for 4 RBI as the Lakers swept 3 games from Green Rock with a 7-6 win. The Lakers are 2 games behind the Kings and will face them in a 3-game series starting this Tuesday in Elderwood. For their part, the Kings have won 7 straight games.
- Carp LH SP Domingo Lia Itoldino struck out 10 batters over 8 1-run innings. Petchon beat the Blue Sox, 2-1.
