The UPF’s second half began with a big game between the top teams in each conference, the Elderwood Archers and the Lia Kompos Pumas, in a potential preview of Uplantic Bowl II.

Week 8 Scoreboard:

DEL (5-2) @ AMB (2-5): The Amblint Poets hosted the Delle Chaparrals at the Woover Bowl. The poets didn’t reach the endzone, but overcame the Chaparrals with 3 FGs from K Marcus Gallois for the upset win. The Chaparrals hold on to first place, but give the Cragsmen a chance to gain ground with the loss. Final: AMB 9, DEL 7.

CAR (3-4) @ DEE (4-3): The Carver Bulldogs visited Deerborn to play the Gryphons. Carver got 6 FGs from K Jeffry Smalls to get past the Gryphons, leaving both teams tied for second place in the NC East. Final: CAR 18, DEE 10.

ELD (6-1) @ LK (7-0): In a possible preview of Uplantic Bowl II, the Elderwood Archers visited the Lia Kompos Pumas in a battle between conference leaders. In what many are calling the “game of the year” the Archers overcame a 14-point early deficit to tie the game on an 11-yard pass from QB Hugh Ricketts to WR Glen Lloyd in the third quarter, then taking the lead on a FG by K Alton Jessup with 5:30 left in the game. Pumas QB Gerald Painter then led a drive to tie the game with a FG by K Hicham Gauna with 18 seconds left. The Archers managed to get into position to try a FG for the win, but the 42-yard kick from Jessup went wide right and the game ended in the UPF’s first-ever tie. Elderwood WR Joel Landon was injured and will likely be out until Week 11. Final: ELD 20, LK 20.

PC (4-3) @ PET (2-5): The Petchon Predators pulled off a win at home against the Plains City Travelers. An interception by Predators SS Alohalani’i Ojeda on a pass by Travelers QB Phillip Marinna’a as time expired sealed the win for Petchon. The Travelers are now in a three-way tie with the Bulldogs and Gryphons for second in the NC East Final: PET 16, PC 13.

GR (2-5) @ RW (1-6): The Redwood Flyers won their second straight in an uneventful match-up with the Green Rock Warriors in Redwood. Flyers LB John Kortes had tackles and a sack in the win, while QB Lemanea’a Gacharna threw for 256 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. Final: RW 10, GR 6.

PLA (3-4) @ SAL (2-5): The Salvation Brothers are in free fall after their sixth straight loss, this time at home to the Platte Cragsmen. Cragasmen K Dennis Peebles hit 4 FGs in the win. Platte QB Alvin Crane threw for 167 yards and a TD in the win. The Cragsmen are now just 1 game behind the Chaparrals in the SC East. Final: PLA 19, SAL 10.

NOR (0-7) @ TS (4-3): The lowly Northsouth Generals visited the Tiny Sea Titans in search of their first win, with the Titans looking to gain ground on the Archers in the division. The Titans whipped the Generals by a wide margin. Tiny Sea QB Leland James threw for 241 yards, 3 TDs, and an INT in the dominant win. The Titans are now 1.5 games behind the Archers in the NC West. Final: TS 43, NOR 20.

TAA (6-1) @ WIG (5-2): The Taawa Jackals visited the Wight Ravens, hoping to gain a half game on the Pumas after their tie earlier in the week. For the Ravens, a win would mean a little bit of breathing room in the tight NC East race. Taawa got another strong showing from QB James De La Cruz, with 162 yards passing and 2 TDs. The Jackals defense punished Wight QB Anthony Esparkia and the Wight offensive line with 7 sacks for a total loss of 37 yards. Taawa DL Sherman Pratt registered 4 sacks on his own in the game. He trails Redwood’s David Valcarcel by 1 sack for the league lead. The Jackals are now just a half game back of the Pumas in the SC West. Final: TAA 20, WIG 13.
