In Week 6, the Lia Kompos Pumas looked to remain unbeaten against the Deerborn Gryphons, while Northern Conference division leaders Elderwood and Plains City met in a showdown for the NC’s best record. In the SC East, the Chaparrals and Cragsmen squared off for first place in Platte.
Petchon Predators QB Jason Manalani’i is out until at least Week 11 after suffering a painful injury in the second quarter of Petchon’s blowout loss in Carver.
Week 6 Scoreboard:

NOR (0-5) @ AMB (1-4): Much to the delight of Northsouth football’s many detractors, the Amblint Poets beat up on the Generals, 22-2 at the Woover Bowl. DE Steven Black had 3 sacks for Amblint in the win. Former Northsouth A’s QB, now with the Poets, Sean Trask threw for 194 yards, a TD, and an INT. Final: AMB 22, NOR 2.

PET (2-3) @ CAR (2-3): The Carver Bulldogs trounced the Petchon Predators at the Lake Bowl. Insult and injury for the Predators, who didn’t manage to score on just 105 yards total offense, as QB Jason Manalani’i is out until at least Week 11 after a brutal sack by Petchon’s Kelly Pesina just before halftime. The Bulldogs sacked Petchon QBs 7 times in the win. Final: CAR 25, PET 0.

LK (5-0) @ DEE (3-2): The Lia Kompos Pumas looked to remain football’s only unbeaten team, while the Deerborn Gryphons looked to halt a 2-game skid after starting 3-0. The Pumas held on for their league-best 6th win in a hard-fought contest. Pumas QB Gerald Painter struggled for the first time this year, throwing for just 119 yards and an INT. Pumas DE Terrence Lugo recorded 3 of Lia Kompos’s 6 sack of Deerborn’s Branden Warren. Final: LK 21, DEE 18.

TAA (4-1) @ GR (1-4): The Taawa Jackals kept pace with the Pumas in the SC West, whipping the Green Rock Warriors, 27-12. Jackals QB James De La Cruz had a big day with 321 yards passing and TDs, along with 6 rushes for 14 yards and a TD. Taawa remains just a game behind the mighty Lia Kompos Pumas in the division. Final: TAA 27, GR 12.

ELD (4-1) @ PC (4-1): The Elderwood Archers and the Plains City Travelers met in a clash between NC division leaders, with the NC’s best record on the line. It was a thrilling game, but the Travelers couldn’t overcome QB Phillip Marinna’a’s 4 INTs, the last of which came in the final minute and put a dagger in Plain’s City’s hopes of a comeback. The Archers win their 4th straight game and hold the top record in the conference. Final: ELD 20, PC 17.

DEL (3-2) @ PLA (3-2): The Delle Chaparrals visited the Platte Cragsmen to play for the top spot in the SC East. Delle LB Gregory Moradel had 2 sacks on 9 tackles, while Delle QB Hubert Aguirre threw for 253 yards, 2 TDs and an INT in another great game. The Chaparrals have won 4 straight after an 0-2 start and are alone in first place in the SC East division. Final: DEL 17, PLA 12.

WIG (4-1) @ RW (0-5): Football’s worst team, the Redwood Flyers, hosted the Wight Ravens on Sunday night. The Flyers hadn’t scored a TD since Week 1, but QB Lemanea’a Gacharna broke that streak with a 34 yard pass to HB Mililani’i Sapp. The Flyers lost a heart breaker on a 52-yard FG by Ravens K Dalton Kandoro with 33 seconds to go. The win puts the Ravens in a tie with the Travelers for first place in the NC East. Final: WIG 15, RW 13.

TS (3-2) @ SAL (2-3): Crosstown rivals, the Tiny Sea Titans and the Salvation Brothers. The Titans rebounded after last week’s loss with a sound Monday night win at the City Center. Tiny Sea outperformed Salvation by nearly 100 yards on offense. Titans QB Leland James passed for 200 yards and 3 TDs. Tiny Sea remains a game behind Elderwood in the NC West, while the Brothers in freefall with their 4th straight loss. Final: TS 32, SAL 10.
