The football world moved past the short-lived and scandal-plagued UPFF with the first week of Regular Season game under the new Uplantic Premier Football organization. This week, nine teams from the original league and seven brand-new franchises began their long campaigns to compete in Uplantic Bowl II in early 1934.

Week 1 Scoreboard:

PET (0-0) @ ELD (0-0): The Elderwood Archers rode QB Hugh Ricketts’s 230 passing yards with big receptions by WRs Benjamin Magnin and Glen Lloyd to a 10-point victory at home in the first-ever UPF Regular Season game. Archers DL Angel Carbajal was POTG with 2 sacks on 5 tackles. Final: ELD, 27, PET 17.

CAR (0-0) @ LK (0-0): The Lia Kompos Pumas made a statement with a blowout win against the Carver Bulldogs in Week 1. Pumas QB Gerald Painter threw 5 TDs to 4 different receivers on 367 yards passing. Pumas DL Kylian Kosaro had an incredible 5 sacks in the game, while Lia Kompos notched a total of 10 sacks in the game. Final: LK 61, CAR 28.

GR (0-0) @ PC (0-0): Plains City HB David Samaniega continued his momentum from last year with 22 rushes for 79 yards and 2 TDs, along with 2 catches for 24 yards. The Travelers tied the game in the 4th quarter on a 14-yard rush from Samaniega. They tacked on 2 FGs and held on for the victory over the Warriors in the pouring rain. Final: PC 20, GR 14.

TS (0-0) @ PLA (0-0): The Platte Cragsmen won in a shootout over the Tiny Sea Titans on Sunday. With a 3-point lead, Platte FB Thomas Cowell lost a fumble in the final minute, but Titans K Terry Turpin missed a 54-yard FG attempt that would have tied the game. Cragsmen QB Alvin Crane threw for 300 yards and 4 TDs in the win. Final: PLA 42, TS 39.

DEE (0-0) @ RW (0-0): On a windy day in Redwood, the visiting Deerborn Gryphons had a big third quarter and held on for a narrow win against the Flyers. Former A’s QB Branden Warren threw for 314 yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT in his Gryphons debut. Final: DEE 23, RW 21.

DEL (0-0) @ SAL (0-0): In a meeting of two of last year’s UPFF playoff teams, the Brothers opened the scoring with a sack for a safety by LB Kiele’e Monaco. Salvation held off a Chaparrals comeback thanks in part to 6 sacks, 3 of which came from DT Demarcus Jernigan. Salvation HB Milo Whaley was in top form, rushing for 100 yards on 16 carries. Final: SAL 25, DEL 18.

AMB (0-0) @ TAA (0-0): Former A’s QB Sean Trask threw for 189 yards and a TD, and took a road win for the Amblint Poets in front of football’s rowdiest home crowd. Trask threw a clutch first down pass to WR Joe Windham on 4th and 16 to set up a 31-yard FG by K Marcus Gallois to give the Poets the lead with seconds to go. Final: AMB 18, TAA 16.

NOR (0-0) @ WIG (0-0): The Wight Ravens stomped the Northsouth Generals on Monday Night, out-gaining them 446 to 207 in total yardage. Wight QB Alphonso Esparkia threw for 290 yards and a TD, while Wight HB Garry Young ran for 83 yards and 2 TDs. Northsouth QB Corey Spain threw 3 INTs in the loss. Final: WIG 37, NOR 10.
