“The Old Man,” 38-year old 1B Pedro Bausi of the Delle Stars is Week 7’s UA Player of the Week! He hit an astounding .625 with 4 HR and 9 RBI this week as the Stars fought to keep pace with the Deerborn White Sox for the UA East lead heading into the All-Star break.

All-Star rosters were announced yesterday, with the big game set to take place at Rivals Stadium in Railey on Tuesday, July 25! This will be the last UA All-Star Game with an East vs West setup, as the league will realign with non-geographically-based divisions in 1934 as part of the UUBO merger plan.

Monday, 7/17/1933
- Stags CF Ramon Zuniga hit 2 more HRs for a UA-best 20 HR on the season, while his teammate Hector Holman tied the team record with 3 doubles. Herders RF Willie Eatmon hit 2 doubles and a HR in the game. Roland beat Cherricaw, 13-4.
- Bob Hove (DEE) and Howard Tenney (RAI) both homered, but the Rivals came out on top to avoid the sweep, 5-2. Railey trails Deerborn by 2 games in the UA East.
- Bears 1B Gabriel Martinezto went deep twice as Platte topped Lia Kompos, 5-3. Miners CF Kimmy Hamm left the game with a sprained wrist. He expected to recover in 1-2 weeks.
- Stars 1B Pedro Bausi hit 2 HR in Delle’s 6-3 win over Taawa. It is Delle’s 11th straight win!
Tuesday, 7/18/1933
- Guardians LF Andy Thompson left today’s game with a foot contusion. He will miss a week. Roland RF Albert Pentana hit a pair of homers, but it took 16 innings for the Stags to beat the Guardians, 5-4. The Stags are creeping up the standings after a rough start. They have won their last 5 games in a row, but are still 7 games out of a playoff spot.
- Rookie OF Claudio Ridha had a pinch-hit grand slam in the seventh to put the Herders past the Rivals, 5-3.
- Stars SP Ron Rivera racked up 10 Ks in 6 innings of work, but the Trail Blazers topped the Stars, 3-1, on a walk-off bomb by 3B Ted Sharpe in the 9th. The loss ends the Stars’ win streak at 11 games.
- Brothers SP Jeff Walker struck out 13 in 7 IP to set the Salvation team record. The Brothers beat the Miners, 6-2. They are now back over .500 and just 4 games behind the Bears for first place in the West.
Wednesday, 7/19/1933
- Salvation 2B Cliff Moyer was 2 for 3 with a double, a HR, and 4 RBI, as the Brothers beat the Miners, 7-3, in Tiny Sea.
- Guardians SP James Beach left in the 1st inning tonight with a leg injury. It is a mild calf strain, so Beach should be ready for his next start. Unfortunately, Northsouth also lost RP Jim Hale, who will be out at least a month with a sprained elbow. The Guardians beat the Stags, 4-0.
- Bears 1B Gabriel Martinezto hit 2 HR for 3 RBI in Platte’s 8-3 win over Redwood. The Bears lead Northsouth by 1 game in the West.
- Deerborn RF Curt Sawyer hit 2 HRs and 1B Bob Hove hit his 20th to tie Roland’s Ramon Zuniga for the league lead. The White Sox beat the Chargers, 6-2, drawing even with the Stars in the East.
Thursday, 7/20/1933
- Stars 1B Pedro Bausi stayed hot with 2 doubles as Delle stomped Prissley, 8-1.
- Rookie White Sox C Alejandro Lia Loma went 3 for 4 with 2 HRs and 5 RBI. Deerborn beat Taawa, 10-3. The Stars and White Sox are still tied for the UA’s best record.
- The Brothers beat the Miners for the 3-game sweep, 8-6. Salvation has won 7 of their last 8 games! They are 4 games behind the Platte Bears.
- The Herders beat the Rivals, 4-3, for a 3-game sweep. Railey has had a middling July since their great start to the season. The Rivals are currently 4 games behind the White Sox/Stars in the East.
- Bears LH SP Craig Ogg went 8 innings and struck out 11, allowing just 1 run. Platte beat Redwood, 5-1, to stay a game ahead of the Guardians in the West.
Friday, 7/21/1933
- White Sox 1B Bob Hove hit his 21st HR of the year and Deerborn pounded the Herders, 12-1. White Sox RF Gil Larcher went 3 for 5 with a triple and a HR for 5 RBIs in the win.
- Rivals CF Howard Tenney went 3 for 4 with a 2-run HR as Railey beat Northsouth, 7-1.
- Stars LH SP Kevin Leroux nearly went the distance, allowing just 1 run on 2 hits and striking out 8 in 8.2 innings of work. Delle 1B Pedro Bausi added another 2 HR to his stellar week at the plate. Delle beat Platte, 7-1.
- Salvation won their 5th straight, beating Redwood, 7-0. Brothers LF Carlos Kayra had a pair of doubles in the win and 2 RBI in the win. Salvation is now just 3 games out of first place in the UA West.
Saturday, 7/22/1933
- The Bears got word today that they will be without SP Will Shufflebottom for the rest of the year. Shufflebottom left yesterday’s game with arm pain and today we learned that he has ulnar nerve entrapment. Shufflebottom was having a great season with a 5-0 record and league-best 1.26 ERA in 8 starts.
- Stags CF Ramon Zuniga tied Bob Hove for the UA HR lead with his 21st of the season, but Roland lost to Lia Kompos, 8-3.
- Chargers 21-year old 1B George Stouffer hit a double and a grand slam in Taawa’s 12-3 win over Prissley.
- Deerborn 1B Bob Hove hit his 22nd HR to pull into first place in the UA home run race. Deerborn SP Jorge Takato struck out 7 batters in 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. The White Sox beat the Herders, 4-3.
Sunday, 7/23/1933
- The rosters for the 1933 UA All-Star game came out today! The game will be played on Tuesday in Railey.
- White Sox SP Isaac Lee struck out 10 batters over 7 innings. Deerborn swept Cherricaw to win their 5th straight, 4-3.
- Rivals 1B Pedro Kopano hit 2 HR in Railey’s 5-2 win over Northsouth. The Rivals are 5 games behind the White Sox in the UA East as we enter the All-Star break.
- Bears SP Mark Lia Yorino went 5.1 scoreless innings while allowing 3 hits and striking out 5. The Bears avoided a sweep, beating the Stars 1-0 on the road. The loss puts Delle 1 game behind Deerborn in the UA East. The win puts the Bears 1 game in front of the Guardians in the UA West.

Monday, 7/17/1933
- The Carver Canaries finished a sweep of their rival Wight Spiders with a 7-5 win at home. The Canaries are now just 2 games back of the first-place Lakers. Carver DH Felipe Songoro was 3 for 4 with a HR and 4 RBIs in today’s win.
Tuesday, 7/18/1933
- Reapers 1B Antonin Legrand had a 4-for-4 game with 3 RBIs as Plains City beat Petchon, 7-3.
- The Spiders beat the Lakers, 4-2, in the first of a 3-game series. The win puts the Spiders even with the Lakers in first place in the NPL.
Wednesday, 7/19/1933
- The Lakers topped the Spiders in another instant classic. Elderwood scored 4 runs in the top of the 12th to win, 7-4. They are back in sole possession of first place. Elderwood and Wight will play the rubber match tomorrow.
- Kings LF Jorge Akil hit 2 HR for all 4 of the Kings’ RBI and young SP Ben Anderson went 7 innings as Lia Puedris beat Trimble, 4-3. Toppers CF Tim Ramirekaz had 2 HR for all 3 Trimble runs in the loss.
Thursday, 7/20/1933
- Canaries RH SP Enrique Huertata dominated over 8 innings, allowing just 1 hit and zero runs. Carver beat Tiny Sea, 1-0. The Canaries have won 10 of their last 12 games since starting the year 2-5. They are now a game out of first.
- Spiders 3B Ryad Renaud hit a 3-run HR as part of a massive 7-run 7th inning for Wight. The Spiders beat the Lakers, 7-6, to draw even with them atop the NPL.
- Kings LF Jorge Akil could miss a few days with a contusion on his right hand that he suffered while sliding into a base in Lia Puedris’s 6-3 win over Trimble.
Friday, 7/21/1933
- Reapers RP David Isa pitched 7 innings to close out the win against Trimble. He struck out 6 and allowed no runs on just 2 hits. Final: PC 3, TRI 1.
- Kings SP Tony Konzales went 7.1 scoreless innings, allowing 6 hits and sriking out 3, in Lia Puedris’s 5-1 win over Carver.
Saturday, 7/22/1933
- Lakers SP Ed Austin threw a complete game, allowing 1 run on just 2 hits! Elderwood beat Petchon, 8-1.
- Metros LF Jose Tokorres hit a double and a HR for 4 total RBI as Tiny Sea beat Wight, 8-5. The loss brings the Spiders even with the Lakers for the NPL’s top record.
- Kings 3B BJ Horton had a double and a HR for 4 total RBI in a 3-for-3 day as part of Lia Puedris’s 11-2 win over Carver. The Kings will go for the sweep at home tomorrow.
Sunday, 7/23/1933
- Plains City SP Justin Antoine went 8 innings, allowing just 1 run on 3 hits and striking out 9. The Reapers beat the Toppers, 2-1. Plains City is 1 game behind the Lakers for first place in the NPL standings.
