Guardians 3B Gavin Jones is the UA Player of the Week! Gavin is 35 years old, but seemingly hasn’t lost a step. He is hitting .500 to start the year. He’s driven in 8 runs, hit 3 HR, and scored 8 times himself.

The 1933 UA season is underway! This will be the final season with the league format we’ve known and loved since 1928. In 1934, the UUBO merger will kick into full effect, with league realignment and a promotion/relegation system between the two major leagues.
The Delle Stars are ready to defend their back-to-back Windsor Cup titles.
The Railey Rivals are off to a hot start, as are the Platte Bears.
This week gave us some outstanding pitching performances, including a 1-hitter by Bears RHP Adam Evans.

UA News
Monday, 6/5/1933
- The Delle Stars opened their season with a combined 1-hitter against the Lia Kompos Miners. LHP Kevin Leroux returned from the broken elbow that kept him out of action in 1932. He went 7 innings, allowed 1 run on 1 hit, and struck out 6. Amin Roux and David Rogers finished out the 1-hitter with a perfect inning each. Final: DEL 4, LK 1.
- Deerborn White Sox RHP Mathew Huertata threw his record 11th career complete game against the Salvation Brothers on Opening Day. Huertata struck out 12 and allowed just 2 hits and 1 walk as Deerborn beat Salvation, 3-0.
- Railey Rivals RHP Sonny Hernankez struck out 9 over 7.2 innings without a hit and closer Kevin Gomez finished things off with 1.1 hitless innings as the Rivals no-hit the Roland Stags! Final: RAI 4, ROL 0.
- Redwood Owls RH SP Jose Verdier left today’s game with a back strain. He may miss a start. He has dealt with back pain since straining a muscle in a workout in January. He is expected to make his next start.
- The 1933 Draft Pool was announced today. 22-year old 2B Jonathan Stanley is listed as the top prospect in the draft.
Tuesday, 6/6/1933
- In his first start with the Prissley Trail Blazers, RH SP Joe Sankavala left in the 2nd inning with elbow inflammation. We await a prognosis. The Guardians beat the Blazers in Prissley, 2-1.
- Delle 2B Bobby Moyle hit a grand slam HR in the bottom of the 9th inning to walk off and complete a 6-run comeback. The Stars scored 7 runs in the 9th to beat the Miners, 9-7.
Wednesday, 6/7/1933
- Brothers 3B Jeff Brown unloaded against his former team, going 4 for 4 with 2 doubles and a home run against the Cherricaw Herders. The Brothers cruised to a 14-1 win at home.
- Trail Blazers RF Vage Lek tied the UA record with 2 triples today. Miners OF Ron Morley was 3 for 5 with 6 RBI and hit the walk-off single in a dramatic back-and-forth game. Final: LK 10, PRI 9.
- Chargers LF Joe Katakien hit 2 triples today, but the Rivals edged out Taawa for their 3rd straight win, 5-4.
- Owls Rookie C Mario Machupa went 3 for 3 with 3 RBI today as Redwood beat Delle, 6-3. Machupa is hitting .667 with 2 HR through the first 3 games this year.
Thursday, 6/8/1933
- Rivals CF Howard Tenney went 2 for 4 with 4 RBI today as the Rivals improved to 4-0, downing the Taawa Chargers 11-5. Railey LF Julio Kastro homered for the 3rd straight game in the win.
- Deerborn SP Isaac Lee struck out 11 in 7.2 innings as the White Sox topped the Stags in Roland, 3-2.
Friday 6/9/1933
- Brothers 3B Jeff Brown went off again against his former team with another 4 for 4 day. Salvation routed Cherricaw, 11-1.
- Prissley SS Emeric Quille’s 2-run pinch-hit HR helped propel the Trail Blazers to a 6-5 win in Lia Kompos.
Saturday 6/10/1933
- Redwood 3B Fouad Lefevre’s shoulder tendinitis is going to keep him out longer than anticipated. Doctors say his return will be pushed back at least 2 weeks.
- White Sox SP Mathew Huertata threw another gem today against Railey, hand the Rivals their first loss. Huertata notched 10 Ks and allowed just 3 hits over 8 inings of work. Final: DEE 3, RAI 0.
- A scary moment for the Rivals today, as ace pitcher Sonny Hernankez came out of the game int he 3rd inning with elbow pain. Thankfully, the soreness doesn’t seem to be indicative of a lasting issue.
- The Herders pitching staff combined for 15 Ks today as Cherricaw held off the Stags, 2-1.
- In an epic, 15-inning game, Guardians CF Carlos Katamori had 6 hits in 8 at-bats. Northsouth scored 5 runs in the top of the 15th to win, 12-7 over Salvation. LF Andy Thompson hit 2 HR and had 6 RBI in the game against his former team.
Sunday 6/11/1933
- Bears RHP Adam Evans threw a complete game, 1-hit shutout against the Miners today! He walked 2 and struck out 6 in the outing. The Bears are in 1st place in the UA West.
- The Herders walked off against the Stags in the bottom of the 14th inning on an RBI single by 2B Clay Chaffin. Final/14: CHE 4, ROL 3.
- Prissley rookie 2B Ismail Lefebvre had 5 RBI on 3 hits, including 2 triples to tie the league record. The 23-year old phenom is off to a .429 start this year. He also hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 9th to give the Trail Blazers an 8-7 win over Redwood.
- In a frightening display, Redwood LF Ronald Joiner was hit in the face by a pitch today. He suffered a bruised jaw, but is doing fine.
- Delle 3B Mario Olivo had a 3-run HR and 4 total RBI today as the Stars beat the Chargers, 5-3. The Stars are tied with Railey for first in the East after a week of action.

- 36-year old reliever and 2-time UA All-Star Jorge Seanez signed a 2-year $5.2 million deal with the Tiny Sea Metros today.
