Offensive Player of the Week: Platte Cragsmen QB Alvin Crane threw 3 TD and went 22 of 30 for 425 yards passing in Platte’s upset win against the Plains City Travelers.

Delle Chaparrals SS Roger K’Tarra is the Defensive Player of the Week. He had an incredible game in Delle’s win over Salvation, with 8 tackles and an interception, plus he forced and recovered a fumble after a monster hit on Brothers RB Milo Whaley.
Unfortunately, due to ISP issues, Uplantic Football is back to a blog-only format, indefinitely. The connection just isn’t reliable enough for streaming to work on a regular schedule. I’ll still be doing retro game streams on twitch.tv/lowkisapfoot when the ISP allows for it. Maybe we can figure out a stable connection for a playoffs special or something.
Follow LowkiSapfoot on twitch to watch live broadcasts, someday, again, maybe!

Week 5 Scoreboard:

SAL (0-4) @ DEL (1-2): The Salvation Brothers traveled to Delle to take on the Chaparrals. The Brothers were still looking for their first win, while the Chaparrals looked to put up a big a win at home to take a big step toward righting a season in which the team has under-performed thus far. Brothers backup QB Terry Odom threw an interception to SS Roger K’Tarra in the third quarter that led to a Delle touchdown. Two possessions later K’Tarra forced and recovered a fumble by RB Milo Whaley, leading to another Delle touchdown and putting the game out of reach. Chaparrals RB Robert Lavender scored both TDs in the win. He and RB Lorenzo Hart combined for 84 yards in the win. Final: DEL 20, SAL 3.

PC (3-0) @ PLA (0-4): The winless Platte Cragsmen hosted the undefeated Plains City Travelers on a windy day at the Crag Bowl. The Cragsmen took charge of the game in the second quarter with 3 unanswered touchdowns, including a 64-yard pass from Alvin Crane to Richard Apodaka. Apodaka was brilliant in his return from missing time with a broken eye socket. He was still experiencing headaches, but racked up 193 yards on 7 catches and scored 3 TDs. A 32-yard TD run by RB David Samaniega brought the Travelers within 7 points of the Cragsmen midway through the fourth quarter, followed by a 3-and-out stop by the Travelers defense. However, Travelers QB Phillip Marina’a threw an interception at the Cragsmen 26-yard line to halt Plains City’s drive with 2:08 remaining. The Cragsmen ran down the clock and shocked the nation with their first win. The Travelers were handed their first loss of the season. Final: PLA 31, PC 24.

GR (2-2) @ TAA (2-1): The Taawa Jackals took on the Green Rock Warriors in Taawa in a big Southern Conference battle. It was the home debut for the Jackals in front of a rowdy crowd at Sapfoot Stadium West. The Jackals were narrowly favored in the game, and they came out swinging, scoring 3 unanswered touchdowns early, to start the second quarter with a 21-0 lead. The Jackals went on to win big on big plays. Jackals QB James De La Cruz threw a 58-yard TD in the first quarter to Vagana’a Sanchez and a 50-yard TD to Kenneth Williams in the fourth quarter. Jackals FS Paul Thrash intercepted a William Kastaneda pass and returned it 49 yards for a TD. For the Warriors, Frank Kontreras returned a kickoff 106 yards for a touchdown. Taawa RB Dale Moulin had 133 yards on 23 attempts with 2 rushing TDs in the romp. The decisive win by the Jackals has put the SC on notice. Final: TAA 45, GR 23.

TS (2-2) @ LK (2-1): The Tiny Sea Titans visited the Lia Kompos Pumas on Monday night. With starting QB John Parva out with a a sprained knee, the Pumas looked to keep a share of first place in the Southern Conference after Taawa’s big win on Sunday over the Warriors team that beat the Pumas in Week 4. The Titans looked to keep pace in a wide open Northern Conference after Plains City’s loss. With a 7-0 lead, Lia Kompos SS Adam Arbacuas strip-sacked Tiny Sea QB Robert Calabrese. DT Kennith Mokontoya recovered the fumble to set up a Pumas field goal. After a 92-yard TD pass on 3rd-and-10 from back-up Lia Kompos QB Solomon Brito to TE Leo Mayers, Pumas LB Cary Zambrando intercepted a Calabrese pass to set up another scoring drive for Lia Kompos. It was Calabrese’s first interception thrown this year. The Pumas held a commanding 31-3 lead at halftime. The Titans finally found the end zone in the fourth quarter, but the Pumas never looked back in a blowout win of their own to draw even with the Jackals atop the SC. Final: LK 38, TS 17.
News:
- With the cause of the September 26 Monday night game blackout still unknown, Crystalline Casting canceled all of its UPFF broadcasts for Week 5 citing safety concerns for their crews after the “Back to Light” terrorist group’s civilian kidnapping last month. The broadcast team was infiltrated by at least one suspected terror agent who sabotaged the UPFF Opening Week football broadcast based on the religious fanatic group’s peculiar demands. Crystalline Casting is expected to take a huge financial hit as a result of the decision to suspend coverage in Week 5 after missing most of each of Weeks 1 through 4. Some are speculating that the broadcasting company could suspend its football transmissions for longer than just this week. With its major cash cow, Uplantic Baseball, just now wrapping up its debut season on the new technological platform, the loss of football ad revenue coupled with contract fees to the UPFF could have Crystalline Casting in hot water entering 1933. The UPFF itself has sold very well at stadium box offices through the first 5 weeks despite the lack of expected Crystalline Casting coverage. It’s not altogether surprising, seeing as the Uplantic baseball leagues were able to rise to substantial popularity before the advent of Crystalline Casting this year.
- Elderwood Archers OT Miriyan Hay will likely miss 1-2 weeks with a hernia, while G Lynn Pollock remains questionable against Taawa on Thursday after being out since Week 2 with abroken finger.
- The Northsouth Athletics will likely see a few key players return to the field in Week 6 against Tiny Sea. Both QB Branden Warren (hernia) and WR Ilias Larue (dislocated shoulder) are listed as “probable” but RB Anthony Gasporra is still “doubtful” with a broken collarbone. Backup QB Sean Trask has done a great job to keep the Athletics in the NC race since Warren went out in Week 1. Northsouth is currently in a 3-way tie for first place.
- The Platte Cragsmen are looking healthier for Week 6 against the Pumas after their big upset win against Plains City. WR John Skogv (bruised hip) is “probable” while WR Dorian Sandberg (sprained wrist) remains “questionable.” FS James Lebon is “probable” with a a sprained ankle.
- Lia Kompos Pumas QB John Parva (sprained knee) remains doubtful against Platte in Week 6.
- The 0-5 Salvation Brothers will be missing several players on both sides of the ball against Plains City in Week 6, aside from QB William Maya (torn quad), who is out for the season. G Philip Spencer (torn miniscus), DE Adam Constantin (sprained knee), and DT Kawaimomona’a Huynh (broken finger) are all “questionable” while DE Jeffery Hinola (sprained ankle) is “doubtful.”
- The Delle Chaparrals offense should be back to full strength for the big upcoiming game against the Green Rock Warriors with WR Brian Chavekas expected to return from chronic headaches. LB Lyle Martoyo is “questionable” with a pulled hamstring.
- The Green Rock Warriors offensive line maybe a bit compromised on Monday against Delle. G Kenneth Makana’a (sprained wrist) and OT Timothy Grisostomo (bruised hip) are both listed as “probable’ but could be dealing with lingering, limiting pain. Meanwhile, FS Abe Guzman is “questionable” with an illness.
