After the UBC’s successful rescue of all four Lydon family hostages from the “Back to Light” terror group last week, the UPFF went ahead with full coverage of Week 4 games. Meanwhile, in the Uplantic Association of Organized Baseball, the SemiFinal series got underway this week in Platte under heightened security, although the terror group responsible for the Lydons’ kidnapping did not target the baseball league in their list of demands. Unfortunately, Crystalline Casting’s coverage of Monday night’s UPFF game between the Titans and Travelers went dark just before kickoff. The cause is currently unknown, whether it is related to this months terror kidnapping, the pink lightning anomalies that have recently puzzled the nation, or an entirely different culprit.
The loss of Crystalline Casting coverage on the Monday night game caused us to miss the week’s best game, in which the Plains City Travelers remained undefeated with a narrow win over the Tiny Sea Titans. The Travelers dominated for most of the game, but the Titans mounted a late comeback with 2 TDs and 2-point conversions in the 4th quarter. It wasn’t enough, as the Travelers held on for a 29-26 at home.
The Salvation Brothers played well this week, giving the Elderwood Archers a test at the City Center in Tiny Sea, but ultimately lost 20-13, falling to 0-4. The Archers improved to 3-1, tied for second place in the Northern Conference with the Northsouth Athletics, who pounded the lowly Platte Cragsmen on Thursday night, 41-7. The Brothers lost QB William Maya in the game, who will be out for the season with a torn muscle in his leg.
The Green Rock Warriors rolled to their second straight upset victory, taking down the Lia Kompos Pumas 38-16. The Warriors improved to 2-2, and the Pumas are now 2-1, tied with the Taawa Jackals for first place in the Southern Conference.

Week 4 Scores:

News:
- UPFF co-founder Giles Lydon is was reunited with his son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren after a harrowing weeks-long hostage crisis. Lydon praised the Uplantic Bureau of Crime’s efforts to bring his family home safely, and thanked the UPFF and Crystalline Casting leadership for keeping the fledgling league on track in the face of terror: “This league embodies the toughness and perseverance of this nation. I’m so proud of what we’ve started, and just like the brave agents of the UBC who saved my son and his family, we will do whatever it to takes to keep the dream of a united Uplantica alive. Our little game might not seem so important under the circumstances, but living our lives and creating our wares without the threat of terror from small-minded cowards is non-negotiable in the new vision of our nation.”
- The 0-4 Salvation Brothers added injury to insult in their loss to the Archers this week, with QB William Maya going down with a torn quad muscle. His season is over. Backups Terry Odom and Jordan Requero will complete for the starting QB job going forward.
- Delle Chaparrals WR Brian Chavekas is questionable for Thursday night’s Game 5 match-up against Salvation. He is still dealing with headaches and blurred vision.
- Green Rock Warriors SS Monroe Smith is again probable for this Week’s big game against the Jackals, although he is still dealing with hamstring tightness. On the other side of the ball, T Timothy Grisostomo is expected to go after suffering a hip bruise in Week 4 against the Pumas.
- Lia Kompos Pumas SS Adam Arbucuas missed Week 4 with a hamstring pull, but he is probable for Week 5 against Tiny Sea. DE Julio Eskobeda also missed Week 4. He is listed as questionable with turf toe.
- Pumas QB John Parva left the game against Green Rock after a huge sack by Warriors DT Marco Tinagero. He suffered a knee sprain, and is currently “questionable” for Week 5 against the Titans.
- Backup QB Sean Trask and the Northsouth Athletics have done an admirable job of keeping pace in the standings with injuries to starting QB Branden Warren and RB Anthony Gasporra. The team goes into a much-needed bye in Week 5 with WR Ilias Larue still dealing with shoulder pain despite playing well in Week 4 against Platte. QB Warren should be back for Week 6 against Tiny Sea, but RB Gasporra’s broken collarbone could keep him out a bit longer.
- The 0-4 Platte Cragsmen will be taking on an undefeated Travelers team in Week 5. Their receiving corps should be a little healthier. Apari Nejala returned in Week 4, and Richard Apodaka is “probable” for Week 5 after missing three weeks with a fractured eye socket. John Skogv is “questionable” with a bruised hip, and Dorian Sandberg is “doubtful” with a sprained wrist.
- Tiny Sea Titans LB Harry Kontreras is listed as probable this week against Lia Kompos, while LB Renaldo Scribner is “doubtful.”
