The inaugural Uplantic Professional Football Federation season kicked off this week with five games. The action on the field was overshadowed by a dangerous hostage situation which caused the Crystalline Casting feed of the game between Delle and Northsouth to go dark. Week 1’s games finished on Sunday and Monday in empty stadiums without being broadcast. In light of terrorist demands to suspend the league’s broadcasts and disband the Salvation Brothers team, we have yet to hear from UPFF officials on plans for Week 2, whether play will go ahead as planned, and whether it will be broadcast nationally.

On the field, the elder organizations of the Northern Conference dominated in three inter-conference games. The Athletics got a big win over the Chaparrals, but injuries may give them issues int he coming weeks.

Week 1 Scores:

News:

  • The Northsouth Athletics defeated the Delle Chaparrals in an Opening Night upset, but lost two of their star players on offense. QB Brendan Warren will miss 1-2 weeks with a hernia, while RB Anthony Gasporra will miss 2-4 weeks with a broken collarbone.
  • Platte Cragsmen WR Apari Najela is doubtful for the Cragsmen in their Week 2 match-up against Taawa after spraining his wrist in the Cragsmen’s loss to the Titans.
  • Taawa Jackals RB Dale Moulin missed Week 1 against the Pumas with a scratch on his eye. He is questionable for Week 2’s game in Platte.
  • The league has not yet made an announcement, but it is expected that Thursday’s game between the Titans and Archers in Elderwood will go ahead without fans at Elderwood Park Center, the same as Sunday and Monday’s UPFF games in Week 1. The UBC’s search for the “Back to Light” group and their abductees is ongoing.
