Gavin Jones is having a great season since coming over to the Guardians in a trade with the Rivals. He is the current batting average leader in the UA, hitting .348 so far in 1932. He is also Week 5’s Player of the Week. He hit .500 this week, 12 for 24, with 5 home runs and 10 RBI.

The Delle Stars looked to continue their 7-game win streak as the week began. The White Sox, Guardians, Stars, and Bears are all fighting for baseball’s top spot. The first-year player drafts for the UA and NPL took place this week, and All-Star voting continues with the 5th UA All-Star Game coming up on July 21. We are a third of the way through the 1932 Regular Season!
UA News:
- 19-year old OF Pedro Tutuo is chosen first overall by the Redwood Owls in this year’s UA First Year Player Draft. Time will tell if he signs a contract with the team, but a deal is expected. (7/5)
- Roland Stags LH SP Salim Mujer goes the distance, earning a 6-0 complete game shutout against the Prissley Trail Blazers at Prissley Grounds. He gives up just 3 hits while striking out 6 in a masterful performance. (7/5)
- Prissley Trail Blazers 1B Antonin Legrand strains his hamstring. He will be day-to-day over the next week or so. (7/8)
- Stags SP Salim Mujer leaves today’s game and is diagnosed with a “dead arm.” He is expected to miss around 3 weeks. (7/9)
- Guardians RH RP is diagnosed with an oblique strain after leaving Thursday’s game. He will miss 5 weeks. (7/9)
- Redwood Owls RH SP Evan Francis fans 15 batters in just 6 innings of work against the Chargers. Francis’s 15 Ks ties the UA single game record. (7/10)
- White Sox RP Jacob Hudson sprains his elbow. The injury could affect him over the next week, but he hasn’t been placed on the IL. (7/10)

NPL Watch:
- Tiny Sea Metros starter Jose Verdier is dealing with a finger blister. He has to leave today’s game, but should be available for his next start. (7/5)
- The Petchon Carp select 22-year old OF Jerry Lia Puedris as the first overall pick in this year’s NPL First Year Player Draft. (7/6)
- 36-year old Wight Spiders reliever John Petchon will miss the next 13 months with a torn flexor tendon in his throwing elbow. There’s no word yet on whether he plans to return, as his contract is up after this season. (7/6)
- Carver Canaries 1B Francisco Kosgei is out for the year after tearing a ligament in his knee. It’s a tough blow for the defending champs. (7/8)
- Carver Canaries starter Luis Ybarra will miss the next 3 to 4 weeks with shoulder bursitis. (7/10)
- Wight Spiders starter Fabio Mora is out for the next 5 weeks with severe elbow inflammation. (7/10)
