Our thoughts are with the loved ones of former Stars player Yassine Joseph, who is presumed to have passed away late Sunday when his plane went down over Trat’eo Gulf.
Week 2 began with the White Sox and Bears leading their divisions. Are teams like the Chargers, Trail Blazers, and Owls for real? Will they hang around in the standings after strong starts in week 1?
UA News:
- Well-wishers gather at Stars Ballpark of Darling to remember the life of former Delle Stars player Yassine Joseph. The league will hold a moment of silence before each game today. The Stars will wear a black armband to honor their former teammate. (6/13)
- Stags 1B Kevin Smith is suspended for 3 games; Chargers RHP Joseph Carr is suspended for 6, for a scrap that initiated a bench-clearing fight between the two teams in yesterday’s 5-0 Stags win. (6/14)
- Platte Bears C Eloi Rousset suffers a sprained elbow. He is listed as day-to-day, but the injury could affect him for the next 2-3 weeks. (6/16)
- Bears starter Justin Russell comes on in relief and leaves the game with a sore elbow. The injury isn’t serious, and Russell will likely be back to 100% within 5 days. (6/17)
- After a brilliant start in which he gave up just 4 hits and struck out 6 over 8.1 innings and earned his first career win, Roland Stags rookie pitcher Rafael Itaawa complained of elbow pain. Today he has learned that his season is over with a torn ligament in that elbow. (6/18)
- Taawa Chargers RH SP Ricardo Molina will miss 5-6 weeks with a shoulder strain. Molina appeared upset by the news, and refused to speak with the media upon leaving the clubhouse. (6/19)
- In another brutal blow to the Delle Stars pitching staff, veteran RH RP Francisco Katrikowa is out for the rest of this year, and likely most, if not all of 1933 with a torn flexor tendon in his elbow. (6/20)
