The nation is abuzz with the recent announcement that the 1932 UA and NPL seasons will be available via Crystalline Casting, a revolutionary new communications technology. Crystalline Casting allows the broadcast of live sound and imagery across the continent via a newly discovered property of syelti crystals, which have long been revered by the K’Taen people of southeastern Uplantica. One of the creators of Crystalline Casting, geologist Lono Kahukiwa’a, said this:
“This technology will surely change the way we communicate. Information has never been more widely available to all people. From learning to entertainment, the possibilities are truly mind-boggling. The crystals let us beam information simultaneously across vast spaces, even live pictures and sound. Some of my colleagues have even posited that the broadcasts might reach into other dimensions of time and space, if such places exist, but that might be a discussion for another time.”
The Uplantic Association held its 1931 Winter Meetings last week in Tiny Sea. On the first day of the meetings, UA Commissioner Jim Windsor announced the Crystalline Casting deal before the league press corps:
“This may be the most important deal in our game’s history. For the first time, baseball fans across the country will be able to see their favorite teams play right from their living rooms, or anywhere with a Crystalline Casting Receiver. We are beyond thrilled to be teaming up with Crystalline Casting and our friends in the NPL to help bring the game of baseball into more Uplantic lives than ever before.”
Aside from the big broadcast news, the Winter Meetings were an opportunity for free agents to search for deals with UA clubs, and for front offices to meet and discuss the future of baseball.
Top free agents going into the Winter Meetings included relievers Raul Babechi and Ferdinand Barthe, who helped the Stars win their first Windsor Cup this year, as well as 38-year old 2B Juan Rokodriguez, who is coming off of a career year with the Platte Bears.
