Weekly Report: July 7, 1930

The NPL began its inaugural season on Tuesday with an afternoon game in Carver.

Both leagues held their first-year drafts this weekend. The new league comes along just in time to help make room for new players as enrollment in the draft has nearly doubled since 1928. UA teams got first crack at the draft pool on Saturday, although a handful of top prospects let it be known that they would prefer an NPL contract and would hold out if necessary. Is the new league already gaining on the UA, or is it just a lot of fleeting hype around the novelty of it all?

Voting continues for the 3rd UA All-Star Game. Vote at a UA stadium or at participating picture houses.
