  • Platte explodes on Opening Day for an 11-0 win over defending champs, Deerborn. RHP Julio Martinezto pitches the first complete game of the season, allowing only 4 hits and striking out 8. Bears LF Andy Bernard scores 4 runs in the game. (6/1)
  • White Sox SP Mathew Huertata strains his hamstring and has to leave after 1 inning, but is expected to make his next start. (6/1)
  • LHP Jeff Walker throws 8 shutout innings for the Brothers, striking out 7, in Salvation’s 1-0 win over Redwood. (6/1)
  • LHP Kevin Leroux pitches 8.1 shutout innings and Antonio Teakowa is 4 for 4 in Delle’s 4-0 win over Cherricaw. (6/2)
  • Rivals RF Julio Kastro crushes 2 HR, but the Miners prevail, 9-6. Rivals 1B Pedro Kopano will miss 5 days after being hit in the forearm with a pitch. (6/2)
  • Brothers SP Pancho Romo leaves in the 4th inning with a forearm cramp, but Salvation beats the Owls, 3-2, on 3B Cliff Moyer’s walk-off single in the 9th. (6/2)
  • Cherricaw LHP Kevin Kolon leaves after the 1st inning with a hamstring strain in the Herders’ 4-3 loss to Salvation. Kolon could miss up to 3 weeks. (6/3)
  • RHP Adam Evans wins his first start for the Bears with 8 Ks in 8 innings. The Bears beat the Stags, 5-2. (6/4)
  • Owls RF Jorge Akil hits 2 home runs, but the White Sox hand the Owls their 4th straight loss, 9-6.
  • After leaving yesterday’s game with back spasms, Rivals RHP Alfredo Hernankez pitches 0.2 innings of relief today before leaving the game again with a mild oblique strain. The 30-year old pitcher has been plagued by muscle tightness and spasms in his torso since returning from a torn shoulder labrum last season. The Rivals come from behind to avoid the sweep, beating Delle, 7-6. (6/5)
  • Salvation CF Howard Tenney hits 2 HR and RF Mike Wilson hits 2 HR and a double as the Brothers knock off the Herders, 9-5. (6/5)
  • RHP Travis Voelker strikes out 10 in 6.2 innings in his first start for the Bears. Platte sweeps the Stags at Craterview Park, winning 6-1 and remaining undefeated. However, hard-hitting Bears 3B Juan Tokorres will miss 3 days after breaking his nose on a headfirst slide. (6/5)
  • The Rivals receive word that LF Carlos Kayra will miss 4 weeks with plantar fascitis. (6/5)
  • White Sox RF Curt Sawyer hits 2 HR in Deerborn’s 5-4 win over the Owls. Redwood is now 0-5 to start the year. (6/5)
  • Roland RHP Jose Verdier goes 8 innings and strikes out 8 batters as the Stags beat the Owls, 6-1. Stags RF Albert Pentana, last year’s UA MVP, came out of the game with a jammed finger after being hit by a pitch, but should recover quickly. (6/6)

  • Herders 1B Ralph August hits 2 HR in Cherricaw’s 8-2 over the Rivals. (6/6)
  • White Sox RHP Ayoub Colin could miss up to 2 weeks with back stiffness after leaving in the 3rd inning of Deerborn’s 7-3 loss at Salvation. (6/6)
  • Delle’s nightmare: Stars RF Antonio Teakowa could miss up to 3 weeks with a torn hamstring. The Stars beat the Trail Blazers, 3-2. (6/7)
  • The Owls beat the Stags, 8-1, for their first win of the season. (6/7)
  • White Sox reliever RHP Joao Thery leaves the game against the Brothers with an elbow injury. He awaits diagnosis. Brother C Luka Joubert takes a pitch off his elbow that could have missing action over the next week, and Curt Sawyer ties a dubious UA record by striking out 5 times as the White Sox prevail in 10 innings, 3-2.
