Spring training has ended, and we look forward to the start of the UA Regular Season on Sunday. Teams have finalized their rosters, and are set to begin their quest for the Windsor Cup.
News:
- UA: Bears CF Stan Davis strains his hamstring running down a fly ball. He is expected to miss about 4 weeks and could miss Opening Day. (5/4)
- UA: Brothers closer Fernando Varkas leaves today’s game with a left leg injury and will miss about a week. He missed 4 weeks late last season with a left hamstring strain. (5/4)
- NPL: Reapers RHP Julian Rault injured his shoulder while moving into his new home in Plains City. He is expected to miss most of NPL Spring Training but should be ready to go for the Regular Season in July. (5/5)
- NPL: LHP Fernand Quille signs a massive 5-year contract with the Lia Puedris Kings. Quille started 13 games for the Platte Bears in 1929, striking out 63 batters in 55 IP. (5/8)
- UA: The Rivals’ new starter, LHP Sonny Hernankez, is expected to miss the next 3 months with painful bone chips in his elbow. (5/10)
- UA: Brothers CF Andy Thompson has been the team’s star player, but has missed a lot of time with injuries. That has not changed this year, as he sprains his knee and will miss 2-3 months. Thompson says he is disappointed but will do his best to get through rehab and return to the field ASAP. (5/15)
- UA: The White Sox have faced a scary past few days, with starting pitchers Jacob Hudson, Ayoub Colin, and Mathew Huertata going down with injuries. However, all three injuries are mild and will not keep the hurlers out of action for the champs. (5/16)
- UA: Trail Blazers 2B Gerald Lewis will miss 6-7 weeks with torn ligaments in his ankle. (5/17)
- UA: Stars 3B Mario Olivo will miss 3 months with a torn abdominal muscle. (5/18)
- UA: The Guardians receive slugging veteran 3B Nathan Crayton in a trade with Taawa. Crayton is 39 years old, but managed to drive in 46 runs for the Chargers in 1929. (5/18)
- UA: Herders SP Mario Romerokoa’s season is over after injuring a ligament in his elbow. He hopes to return in time for Spring Training in 1931. (5/26)
- NPL: Spring Training begins for the new league today in Plains City. This momentous day is the first time we will see NPL teams on the diamond. (5/27)
- UA: Spring Training has ended. Last year’s playoff teams, the Stags, White Sox, and Brothers, fared the best during the spring schedule. The Regular Season kicks off on Sunday. (5/29)
